I'll be honest, the number of bands I listen to that didn't premier before 2020 can be numbered on one hand...

What kills it for me is being a musician myself and hearing the absolute lack of structure, composition, and actual ability.

Agreed, and if u call yourself a band, u better have drums, bass, guitar and vocals.
I also prefer my vocalist to play an instrument too. Fuck backing tracks. Play live or get off the stage. If I want to listen to a record, I will stay at home and listen to my own records!

As far as relatively recently formed bands go, I really like me some Polyphia:

I like looking back at the 40, 35 and 30 year anniversary lists for 2023. It very much caters to us in Gen. X. These are formative years when I was developing my musical tastes.

I've been listening to the Chainsaw Man soundtrack and they have some absolute bangers. My favorite has to be TK's "First Death" (one of the 12 different ending songs; MAPPA, you crazy bastards).

The one by Maximum the Hormone is great too. I actually saw them live in concert last summer at Viva La Rock 2022 in Saitama and they were awesome (they played their greatest hits to include their Death Note songs).

EDIT: MAPPA also uploaded all 13 songs (1 OP + 12 ED's) in a single video:

Aw man, Crystal Planet by Satriani is a huge bop though! One of my all-time favorite albums for sure.
