Our cat Simba went missing for a few hours in the afternoon, and he's usually easy to find (sleeping under one of our beds or hiding behind or underneath the couch), but we couldn't find him. We got nervous by the time we usually feed him, he wasn't at his bowl. I finally decided to check the garage and lo and behold, he was hiding underneath the workbench. He's back inside the house where he belongs, thank goodness. It's made a teensy bit worse since I may be the one who let him into the garage by mistake in the first place, since I went out to get something from the workbench, and I must have left the door to the garage open. Thankfully the garage doors were closed, otherwise he would have gotten lost outside. Scared the shit out of me today, and I REALLY hope it never happens again.

Darn....I want a pet...I want a buddy I can chill with after work.

But I'm a dog person. I think it's true what's been said: Dogs are sellouts VS cats don't give a damn.

We had a family cat (she passed away several years ago), and she wasn't as social as I'd hoped she'd be- she was a very "I'll come around when I'm good and ready, you just be patient and give me my space, don't push it" sort of cat- and honestly: It was kind of disappointing.

Occasionally, when we had bonfires, she'd come around and hop on the furniture with us- that was nice- but other than that: Never wanted to play, never really wanted to interact, just kind of a boring, self-isolating pet. Not the best fit for us I don't think- at least not for me.

And I've met super-social cats- my brother and his GF have 2 cats: SUPER social cats. They constantly approach you, constantly want to play, always up for an adventure- they're really awesome cats. Too bad our family one wasn't like them.

But that's why I love and want a dog at some point- that whole "I'm home, come greet me!" routine- I can't wait to have that- they always want to see what's up with you. Perfect best friends. ^_^

Look at adopting a Maine Coon. They are known for being the cat that is perfect for dog people. I had one and he was exactly what you are looking for. He meowed for me as soon as he saw me in the driveway, followed me around, came when called, heck he even played fetch with his toy mice. Basically a dog that meowed and went in a litter box. A day doesn't go by where I don't miss him. I might adopt another Maine Coon next (I'm a single cat kind of person).

I'll let the wife know, because she's a 100% cat person VS I've always wanted a dog- so maybe this would be a perfect deal for us. ^_^

Are they some kind of breed of Maine Coon cat? They have the signature M on their foreheads.

Oh hmmm they're all mixed breed street cats that we took in after someone left them in the empty lot beside our house, but I suppose spme of the genes for their coat color could match a Maine Coon's.

It's common for any tabby cat to have an "M" on their head.

Kailua passed away earlier this evening. She died of kidney disease. My son is sad since the cat and myself is the only constant in his life. She was 16 years old. Right now she's in the vet and she will be cremated. We will place her next to Ashton' s mom.

    We miss you baby girl...

Awwwww Wave, so sorry for your and your son's loss... sweet kitty, may she rest in peace.

If you think he's ready for it... you can show him The Rainbow Bridge, a few posts above this one. Sometimes it helps to think he'll see her again.
