That is a mighty fine Herc you got there with those mods.
Are these all available on Shapeways?
I don't yet have a Herc as the proportions looked a little off to me... But those mods have changed my mind :)

Yes, I just love how the stock forearm looks.
Ares is still WIP stage. Planning to paint the shoulder cannon and sword.

    Thanks!

Yes, all the parts are for sale on Shapeways, in a variety of kits depending on how much you want to mod him. :)

Well, Ares require a lot of effort to make it look good. Mine have no quality issues, all joints are tight. I actually lub some of them so that to prevent wear.

I have Rex too but I dun like the style as compared to Ares.

Connector for Rex is better than Ares. Hopefully Hydrant will change that...

What thigh pieces did you get for Herc, I've seen them before and I'd like to add them as well? We're they difficult to prepare/install?

So I watched vangelus' new video of herc (very timely on his part :lol ) and I noticed how he made a point of hercs ability to stand very well. His hips seemed tremendously good and his kness seem to hold up just fine.

So now I'm super confused. What was the deal with his leg joints? why did people keep saying they had issues? what is their actual major flaw if not the ratchets ability to hold their position?

Some figures didn't have the plastic that pushes on the combiner connector gears, hence the rubber band / eraser trick.

I've had this set for a while and I wonder how people have him stand up without any support? Mine is a complete floppy mess and I see reviews where he stands like a champ. I have the revision set for what it's worth. Is there something I can do?

I have had issues as well. I find with my combiners that have trouble standing, i either do one of two things.

For something like Uranos, you can get that sticky material used on the bottom of figures like Quantrons feet.

For items like hercules, where you can not do that, I just put something like a folded paper towel under both his feet and that makes a big difference.

Woah. And downgraded to boot with a lower part count. Look at those hands.

What's the add-on called that bulks out Herc's chest? Do those pieces have anywhere to store in alt and individual bot modes?

Mine is more of an issue with all the lower connections(hips/knees). Nothing is tight and he kind of flops around in all directions. Another issue is that it looks like the right leg(mixer) is shorter than the left, which makes him want to lean

For some weird reason, I always seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to combiners.

My "fixed edition" Hercules is one hell of a floppy mess too. The ratchets on hips are super loose and he flops over nearly all the time.

And I seem to be the only guy who got a mega floppy bruticus (military titan) too!

    Oh gawd whyyyyy!

Sounds like my experiences with uranos and ares. Both threads littered with endless "mines perfect!" "mines flawless!" comments meanwhile the first holds together like flimsy cardboard and the second is crushed by its own weight for me.

Which is why I was so ecstatically happy with prometheus because all those joints on him are so good and he stands so well even with ares' giant heavy arms attached.

Makes me wonder if tfc's joint n tab qc really is just that crazy random like literally 50% of their product is made like crap but the other 50% nearly flawless haha.

    Well

One has to wonder if our misguided belief that weight equals quality has some baring on Herc/Uranos.

Weight comes with consequences over time.

One has to wonder if Hasbro's lighter combiners will stand the test of time greater than some of the heavy third party ones in terms of ratchets etc.

I certainly believe there's a case to be made for lighter materials in combiners providing a more durable product.

    Excellent move.

I have a cork-like material covering the top of my table that I use to display my larger figures. You can get it at Home Depot, and it simple adheres directly to the surface, like wallpaper.

When larger figures, like gestalts stand on it, they gripe it perfectly. I'd imagine you can simply add that material to the bottoms of their feet too.
