They should label him as "The Sisko (of Bajor)" on the packaging.

I can't believe Mego is bothering. Target put all of their stuff on clearance weeks ago.

I've been meaning to pick up the Enterprise D (my fave Star Trek ship design, hotel lobby bridge notwithstanding :D ) since forever. Placed a preorder with EE. The free shipping offered was the tipping point for me. Thanks for sharing the link!

for some reason, most modern renditions of the 1701-D take a cue from the VOYAGER book of STARFLEET starship design,
what with fat, bulbous saucers, and imbalanced main/secondary hull proportions and all that good business.
indeed, the DIAMOND SELECT 1701-D model is one of the very worst offenders on that front.

so far, the 2009 HOT WHEELS diecast model is the very best rendition of the 1701-D i've ever seen, by a vast margin.
only the old 1987 ERTL model kit comes remotely close.

it is sleek and streamlined in the most perfect way. the main and secondary hulls are, for once, perfectly balanced in size and overall proportion to each other.

to my personal sensibilities, at least, it just looks... RIGHT.

Well this is freakin' great, I bought some old TNG figures but I had Playmates changed the scale for some reason. I bought Picard, Riker and Troi and the former are over 6" high instead of the usual 4.5" so I have no use for them. And just to add insult to injury, both figures are ruined by their gimmicks; Riker's phaser rifle is basically permanently attached to his hands, meaning he can't use any of his accessories except for the SIMs beacon, and Picard...is better, but has some horrid paint flaws on his right arm, in addition to being pretty much permanently stuck in a fencing pose. Which means he can't use the phaser rifle that he comes with.

On the plus side, I did get Troi in the right scale. And the bridge playset, which comes in a freaking HUGE box. I also got Sulu and Scotty in their pilot episode uniforms, who have no trouble holding any of their accessories, all of which are nicely painted to boot.

Took some pictures of the box. Still haven't opened it. Kind of want to do an unboxing video but I need a better camera for it.

I went to a con and there was a guy selling hand made ones and so I have one already, but an official replica is really tempting. Glad we have a few hours to kick the idea around lol.

back in the day their 5" line ruled but, as with all long-lived toylines, they knew they had to keep bringing something 'new' to the table and so came the terrible decision to upsize the figures...history has generally been unkind to lines that suddenly introduce brand new scales (the SW micro line, notoriously)...

I can't really blame toy companies for experimenting, as they know if they keep doing the same old thing (and even if they do a brand new thing) for a long-running line, eventually sales decrease...

The annoying thing is that they probably released more figures in the First Contact style uniforms under the 6" line than they ever did in the main line. I do understand they let the license lapse before DS9 was even finished, but it's kind of a bummer we never got Weyoun or Nog in a Starfleet uniform.

On a side note, I just got a bunch of old Playmates toys, although still no main bridge crew; Barclay, Troi, Wesley, Beverly and O'Brien in duty uniforms, plus Pulaski, as well as the Goddard.

I'm thinking about picking up the Engineering set because I have no space to display the bridge but the Engineering set is a lot more compact and I could use the figures I already have with it.
