While I'm not a huge fan of McFarlane, I'm still rather excited by the announcement of their planned Star Trek lines. Though what helps is their announcement from Toy Fair this year that they're making their figures more articulated. With them apparently having access to the entire franchise, I hope they do more than just TOS and TNG characters when it comes to the past shows. Voyager and Enterprise figures would be great. Voyager never got the DST treatment, and I don't trust the rubber they used for the Enterprise crew (which was also incomplete and are rather expensive now) I'm also hoping that the mention of role play stuff results in some stuff actually being produced (unlike the press release for Hasbro, which mentioned a lot of stuff they never did do). The communicator from Discovery would be great.
Question, did Mega Bloks let go of the Star Trek license??? It doesn't seem that any new products have been announced or released for 2017 and Star Trek is ripe for the Halo Blind Bagged style figures in my opinion. I've decided either way to get the full set, I got all of the Kre-O Trek merchandise and I'd like the Mega stuff to display alongside my TMNT Collectors Series products.
Actually 1/6 trek has been doing pretty well since Nanjin took over at QMX. Here is my little collection so far (The Uhura, Sheridan, Beckett, and Serenity cast are all customs I did) Many more coming soon from QMX Pics from last years comic con Expect more announcements next month at comic con 2017 He's been hinting on face book he has big plans. I've seen partial faces that look like Khan, Q, and DS9 characters. Hope they announce Scotty and Sulu up for sale soon.
Figured I would compile some of the news for McFarlane's Star Trek plans: McFarlane Star Trek Figures Revealed - The Toyark - News SDCC 2017 Gallery - McFarlane Stranger Things, Star Trek, Walking Dead and More - The Toyark - News McFarlane Toys Star Trek Update - New Figures, Role Play Items and More - The Toyark - News CBS Announces License Holders for Star Trek: Discovery - The Toyark - News The figures look good. I just wish they had outward hip movement. I'm excited to see how their prop replicas turn out. I'm not expecting it, but it would be great if they made the type I phaser removeable from the type II body.
I did not see Mezco in the list of Star Trek product producers. Does Mezco no longer have the rights? Their Trek figures are amazing. Really hope we get that McCoy and the other original crew members.
I did see a YouTube video showing their SDCC 2017 display that had Captain Kirk with Captain's Chair and McCoy. I really want to complete the main cast for TOS. It seems like Mezco is riding the Marvel stuff right now, which doesn't interest me. I have Kirk, Spock, and Sulu. Would love to get McCoy, Chekhov, Uhura, and Scotty. I really like the One:12 scale far more than the giant doll-like 12 inch scale from QMX. I have no room or need for figures that big.
They may have taken one look at the ST Discovery designs, and walked out of the meeting. Apparently a lot of the Licensors did. McFarlane only picked up the Discovery license bundled with the Prime Universe license. They currently have announced TOS and TNG era subjects and appear to be taking a wait and see with Discovery. It sounds like it is much the same with the others that have Discovery licenses. That list is perhaps most telling by its absences. No Polar Lights? No Mezco? No Diamond? No Perfect World (Star Trek Online)?
Yeah, I'm waiting for McCoy, Scotty, and the captain's chair from Mezco. I'd love to get into the QMX stuff (their Malcolm Reynolds was amazing) but I just do not have the capital.
I honestly like some the DSC designs, i just hope we get some stuff to tie it to the cage/TOS stylings too.
Yeah, just look it up on ebay. That's just way too much money, especially considering how prone to failure the motor supposedly is. You could get the Bandai kit - the pre-painted snapfit one with lights that came out a few years back - for the same price.
