From an outsiders view, it seems that prices over here are quite variable - in the specialist stores and not in TRU. Is this correct? It seems far better to shop around and check prices at a couple of places before handing over cash, as I have seen price differences of about 20% on $100 items over here, but I wonder if that is correct or just my experience?

I like the Prime Arcee that I picked up, but I really want to grab something that I can't get easily back in the UK... any suggestions?

 

You are right with your observations. Prices at specialty hobby stores are set by their individual observation of supply and demand of the product and by how much profit they want to get out of the sale, so prices vary between these shops.

Mass retail pricing follow the MSRP so prices are the same everywhere.

As for something not easily found back in UK, maybe you can try Japanese TF stuff, like Henkei, United or MPs?

 

Thanks for the suggestions. MP may be a little pricey for me right now.... but I am looking at Alternity or Binaltech.... I wonder when Alternity Galvatron will come out (although I would prefer Banzaitron). Otherwise, the third party stuff is on shelves over here - which is an incredible concept for me! - and I like the look of FP Backfiery, or even the Darkside WfC Prime/Megatron set. So many toys that are so tempting over here. You guys have a fantastic selection. The hunt is mostly dead in the UK as aside from TRU and supermarkets, you have to go online, which is fine but doesn't give the thrill of the hunt or the chance of finding something unexpected.

 

how come? i bought these 2 in hong kong. they are good molds and quite fun to play with, unlike the bigger "powerglide" which is flimsy like crap...
