I bought the Voltes V set. It's not bad but the plastic feels only one grade higher than model quality. I just think of it as a pre-built, nicely painted Super Minipla that would end up being about the same price.

    Yeah.

I'm being quite indecisive about getting GX-90FA (or any of the FAs, even) at all.

The Artstorm Mini-Action seems quite a better figure overall to collect coz it can transform/combine/separate to be rather anime-accurate. Significantly cheaper, too.

Is the new SoC space battleship the Arcadia or the Deathshadow? Wasn't the Arcadia already released (with the large scull and crossbones naval ram)?...
    ...
Okay, it's been a while since I watched the original anime. I went here to brush up on my Harlock knowledge:

    Harlock "continuity."

It's the same ship, but the different studios behind the various anime/ovas wanted to market their own toys and models. Interesting for the real-world history but confusing from an in-universe point of view.

GX-59 is one of the best of the SOC's. Easily in most peoples top 5. Off the top of my head the only ones objectively better are GX-71 and GX-68. GX-66 Tryder G7 is also a superb figure that just feels great in hand. It has a ton of metal, great articulation. It looks like this one has some different accessories. I think the original had a different big ship piece?

So in general DX Line is:
    - Taller than SOCs
    - Contains more gimmick (electronics at most)
    - Much pricey than SOCs

I'm more leaning towards Voltes V since it's 1st Super Robots i saw as a kid.
I already have FA version. I'm thinking to get GX-31 40th anniversary. Then this was announced.

Something wrong with the posing of Voltes DX?
But which is anime accurate regarding robot proportion?
    GX-31 or this DX one?

I find those to be fairly impressive as well. $45 at BBTS over on this side of the pond. I just watched Wotafa’s review on their version of Voltes V...I don’t speak his language, but I know happy when I hear it. Lol.

What I really want to know is the release schedule for all of this. I really want DX Voltes, Gordian, Trider, and the TV Arcadia, (also that weapons set has all sorts of Shogun Warrior goodness) but please spread them out through next year... Preferably closer to the middle. Unless super 7 is running late with Snake Mountain (a real possibility). Not sure if I need a 3rd Daltanious, despite having the Godaiken growing up.

So this is the same Voltes V they’ve already released a few times?

Its labeled as a DX, so I'm thinking its a re-tool of DX Combattler V. If not, I can skip it.

I'd like to know the *preorder* date for these. I have a feeling some of these releases will sell out quickly.

Maybe it's because I had the Popy versions as a kid, but I think the toy lion head and the chrome look much better than the toon design and toon colors.

    Not at all.

See pics of DX Voltes and GX-31 for comparison:

    DX Voltes.jpg GX-31.jpg

Combattler and Voltes look similar at a glance, but ultimately are very different and unique designs, from head to toe. I don't think Bandai would/could do a retool of Combattler without sacrificing a lot of design accuracy--a la Transformers Generations--especially for its prestige line, and especially for its cream-of-the-crop DX line. I imagine that producing a DX Voltes from the ground up is an expensive undertaking, and we fans are going to be paying a high otaku tax for it.

they are different designs, so each will have their own uniqueness. But even with their differences they have exactly the same Transformation. Which streamlines the engineering and design process quite a bit I would imagine. Voltes V was originally sketched up as a new season upgrade for Combatler V, before they decided to make it its own show.

As far as knowing how to design it, I'm sure Bandai's good on that. I'm sure they've learned lessons from doing the GX-31 as well. But to tool up another non-repainted, non-remolded DX combiner is going to be *expensive*, regardless of how much/little thought went into it.

While the overall gattai is pretty much the same as Combattler's (i.e., plug head into torso, plug torso into legs...), the individual components' transformations have their own twists. I always loved how the head transforms on Voltes (vs Combattler's).

    Nope.

This DX-SOC will be significantly larger in size and expectedly more expensive than the regular SOCs, and possibly alot more fragile to handle and to play with...

I don't have it, but my impression of the DX Combattler was that it was fairly robust and user-friendly. Maybe owners of that toy could chime in?

I disliked the GX-31 and I hope the DX will be much more stable and fun to handle

    GX-31 sucks.

GX-31V is much more awesome, tho...

    :rock

Anyway, wonder why this DX Voltes-V ain't in the Godaikin/Respect deco. Bandai already planning to gouge?

Great, so they finally make the second shuttle for Tryder...except it's a pack-in so you have to buy the whole figure all over again to get it!
