I thought this would be more Guy Ritchie's thing, but I think he can be trusted too.

As long as it's more like the Vincent Price/Roger Morre versions and less like the Val Kilmer version.

It may need a retro treatment, though I'm not too sure.

There have been at least a couple reboot attempts after the Kilmer movie that sound no better.

I used to watch reruns of the Moore series as a kid, but I'm not sure it's a viable property to remake today.

Hope this is better than those terriblemovies that were not even remotely similar in style... But it will be hard to cast someone with the same charm as Roger Moore.
I never watched the old show religiously like say, Star Trek, but if I ever caught an episode I always watched it to the end, they were so entertaining.

Only other version I know that kept the same charm and wit was the Vincent Price Radio shows

No Roger Moore no Simon Templar on screen. It just doesn't work otherwise.

Chris Pine to Star in The Saint Reboot

Wonder Woman 1984's Chris Pine in talks to star as the main character, Simon Templar, who is a mysterious and sometimes heroic figure that is reminiscent of Robin Hood.

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Brad Krevoy and Mark Vahradian will serve as producers on the film with Seth Grahame-Smith penning the script. Dexter Fletcher is set to direct the film; he previously helmed 2018's Bohemian Rhapsody and 2019's Rocketman.

Well, nobody said he had to be British. But Europeans have more charm and suavity, you know?

I feel that James Bond needs to be exclusively British, but I don't feel that Simon Templar needs that tag.

But I'm not a major fan of the character.

You don't need Templar being Templar then? OK.

RIP the new series. I like Pine but it's not going to be good. Frankly, a TV or movie screen Saint without Moore is never going to be good.

Stop recycling, Hollywood. For once be creative.

Why would they start now. Hollywood was built on "recycling." The Saint is an adaptation of a book series, you know like James Bond, Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, and dozens of others.

Adaptation of UK books about a character remembered mostly because of a British actor. The new version is going to be about as short-lived as the Val Kilmer one. No crystal ball needed to know it right now.

This thread is starting to piss me off because every time I see the thread title, I get the Saint theme (mostly the first few bars) stuck in my head for the next 3 hours and it's pretty repetitious. I'm starting to lose it.
