For this movie universe! Because all the cybertronians won't be speaking English, since they haven't leant it yet (through internet). It will just be gibberish with subtitles. Unless they do a Disney (with their animals) when cybertronians do speak "English" but when theyre in a different prospective, they are actually speaking cybertronian. Get what I mean? Plus, all the cybertronians look the same... Unless they make it out that they scanned something to become protoform?
Main/Translation Convention - Television Tropes & Idioms The short version: The characters speak in a foreign language, but the audience hears it in their own language for the benefit of the viewer.
Technically, the Cybertronnian speak English (just like Kryptonnian do in MoS) they just use different alphabet. What Optimus implies when he said that they learned earth languages throught the world wide web is that they learn they culture, the way to speak to eachother. Which answer to Sam' question of why Jazz is speaking like a Street punks. Drift must have done the same when he call Optimus his "sensei"
Thats Racist! But I do think it might work, the protoforms aren't the "cybertron modes" all the distinguished transformer parts break off to reveal the protoform underneath before they visit another planet, so it is easier to enter a planets atmosphere where they assume forms after landing. And the language thing? it might not be much of a problem if they speak English (and this would mean that you understood ALL of the characters, not just the Autobots).
The could make a prequel sometime showing the creation of the Transformers and how they became easily. Base most of it with the quints and them making the new race and at the end show them on Cybertron. Or could go the route of the alspark creating them. Which ever. Also I don't mind if they speak English. Small flaw I can look past to enjoy the movie. The 2nd movie following up after it could be the creation of the Decpticons and the war which pretty much laid waste to the planet. A movie of that proportion would need a 400 million plus budget since it would mostly be cgi. But I don't think we would ever get something like that. Not at least until cgi became cheaper in the future.
The real a Cybertron-only film would never happen is that it would be entirely CGI and feature no humans. People just need to accept that a live-action film series is inevitably going to feature a decent amount of, y'know, live action.
