Never saw or heard anything about this series being released, but found volume one ( 1st season ) at Wal-Mart for only $25. Of course I bought it. Haven't watched it yet.

Awesome, isn't it? I want to find the volume with "The Revenge of Murray the Mantis" on it. That was my favorite episode.

I always love this show as a kid. Didn't think they were ever gonna release it on DVD. I personally always liked the one where the old uniforms came to life and they had to fight ghosts of themselves.

I believe Michael Strazinki worked on the series. He was a writer on several children's series back in the day.

The entire series has been available for quite some time at RealGhostbustersDVD.com . I also cant wait for the set that has Murray the Mantis and Drool the Dog-faced Demon and that Citizen Kain Ghostbuster of the Year episode. Good times. Good times.

The box set with tons of extras is steep as hell (180 USD) but i think it worth it, if i could spend that kind of money.
my problem is finding time to watch it all, lol.
    The show was awesome.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys nerdy enough to have shelled out for the big set. I didn't even get through Vol. 1 though. Loved the show as a kid, but it's kind of hard to watch so many episodes in a row.

Not that I regret gitting it one bit.

I liked the one where they went to Arkham and ended up fighting Cthulhu. All the while spouting H.P. Lovecraft references. It was called Collect Call of Cathulhu or something like that.

I picked this up last week or the week before, can't remember. It comes in a sweet case and looks like it has good features. I'll get around to watching it eventually, but right now I'm still watching my Animated X-men DVDs from a few weeks ago.

I have SO many unwatched DVD's of old shows, and I need to start watching them...

That said, I just bought this set (the complete one) from Time Life. Only $180CAD after shipping and tax. Not a bad deal IMO.

Though I give it 2 months before it shows up cheaper at Costco. Same thing happened with Get Smart, lol.

The big full series set is online exclusive, so you're safe.

I thought that pricetag was kinda steep at first, too. But then, I didn't realize that the show had almost 150 eps...

And I used to think the 85 episode Robotech/Macross collection was lengthy!
I actually know someone who is buying every season of "Dallas" which ran from 1978-1991 (that's almost my entire public school career!) and i don't even wanna know his bill for that.

suppose it is still worth it.

as an adult now, i can't understand how TRG got on the air and stayed there with its subject matter. am glad we got it, though.

I grabbed the series boxset early and I love it (comes with an extra DVD that won't be released with the individual sets). The extras DVD is amazing. it has the original 3 minute animation they used to sell the show and it's a fun view (seeing it, they SO should've stuck with the all tan uniforms). Has some great interviews too. Comes with some GREAT coasters too! (also known as Slimer! and the REAL Ghostbusters...)

Actually, the "Get Smart" entire series box set was supposed to be an online exclusive, in fact, on timelife.com, and where I bought it, timelife.ca, is still says both Get Smart and Ghostbusters are "not sold in stores"

But the price difference was minimal for Get Smart. It was in between the base price, and the price after shipping, so I didn't feel ripped off (plus I got it months sooner!)

I am not saying this will happen to Ghostbusters, but I wouldn't put my money on it not happening.

I still bought Ghostbusters online though, the only tough part is waiting for it to arrive >_<

I love how this set looks like the firehouse though, freaking awesome!

I think it's the best 80's toon. I even gave ABC Family the time of day when they would show re-runs.

What was the story about that other Ghostbusters cartoon. To me that was total fail. But there are fans of that other series.

you mean the one with the ape? I really don't know too much about it... other than it was terrible... and based off a live action series from the 70s I think.

I checked the wikipedia on it. after reading it, the toon with the ape doesn't seem like a rip-off anymore.
