    Will Peter Cullen be cast?

This. I was hoping to see more of humans trying to get off the Predators' hunting planet.

So we're getting a Predator movie set at Christmas time and full of awkward attempts at comedy?

No, just no. Keep Shane Black away from my Predators.

I don't see any reason to reboot the franchise. Wasn't the last movie a type of reboot that took place after the original movie?

Predators was more of a direct "stand alone" sequel to the original Predator, while not confirming or denying Predator 2 exists in that Universe.

Galvatron II probably creamed his pants (I say that with love Galvie I think our pasts are behind us).

I'd be fine with him writing it. But that's it.

If they remake the original than a big HELL NO! But if it is a different story or a sequel to Predators, then I'm fine with it. Predators was great.

When they say remake...they mean a new movie right? I don't want them to rehash the first movie.

I'm calling it now that Dee Bradley Baker will be the new voice for Predator.

    I just don't get Hollywood...

They're bringing back Arnold as an old Terminator (which is dumb, to me), but with Predator, instead of bringing back Arnold's "Dutch", they're going to reboot...

Another predator movie would be great, but there is absolutely no reason to reboot the franchise. With Arnold acting again, this would have been the perfect opportunity to bring Dutch back into things.

If it's true, I'll still probably go see it, but they're missing a great opportunity here. I can only imagine that the decision to go with a reboot, would be to have an excuse to freely alter how the Predators look.

Honestly, I have been thinking a lot lately about how awesome it would be if Arnold came back to the Predator franchise. It would be a lot more believable than his return to Terminator. Plus, he was supposed to appear in a cameo at the end of Predators, but it obviously never happened. I don't understand why it has to be a reboot/remake.

I am glad Shane Black is doing it because he is a great action movie writer, and he was in the original. However, my biggest problem with every Predator movie since the original was that they kept going back to the original and rehashing the same formula. I want to see something new.

I read a while back ( Don't know if its legit) that when writing the script for Predator 2, Dutch was going to be in a military mental hospital due to radiation poisoning and his stories of the Predator. He escapes, and part of the movie was that the 2nd Predator was going to come after Dutch himself, because the first one was able to send a report or something to that effect, and Dutch was considered an honorable warrior, so a new big bad wanted his shot. After Arnold said no, the movie was re-written. Arnold went on to film T2 instead because he didn't like the idea of the predator in the city.

EDIT: Found it - from the Predator 2 Novelization

After being rescued from Val Verde, Dutch began experiencing adverse health effects akin to radiation sickness, apparently from exposure to the explosion of the Jungle Hunter's Self-Destruct Device.[2] While hospitalized, he was interviewed by Peter Keyes of the OWLF regarding what had happened in the jungle. Dutch subsequently escaped from hospital and disappeared.[2] Several years later, Dutch's older brother would encounter the Predators while searching for him.

In certain circles, it seems Dutch's story became legendary. Even the Yautja race became aware of Dutch's activities, through records automatically returned to Yautja Prime aboard the deceased Jungle Hunter's ship.[10] The information led some Predators to revere Dutch and his achievements, most notably the City Hunter, who regarded Dutch, and by extension the human race in general, with great respect.[11] Ten years later, Keyes would make mention of Dutch's encounter with the Predator whilst he and his OWLF taskforce attempted to capture another Yautja in the city of Los Angeles.

I guess the Book/novelization is from the original Predator 2 screenplay so the film and book are massively different.

It would be interesting for Dutch to be the reason for a renewed interest in the Earth.

But since Predator Movies can easily be made quite self contained a full reboot is hardly required at all. After all most people who meet them die.

Besides if you Reboot Predator in a roundabout way you reboot aliens too - the only reboot that might be considered a winner is if it did that but to be honest i'd much rather just tie the whole Aliens Predator Universe even more closely.

It's as shame really that there isn't a PG 15 or PG16 rating in the US it would be handy for movies that need to be about a rough as the TV shows can get but not super gory either.

Things like Aliens / Predator / Terminator / Robocop would be ideal for that sort of rating without it effecting ticket sales negatively to much.

I suspect it would soon be used as a excuse for decapitations and breasts though rather than being used sensible to cover more mature themes without downgrading the level of brainless slasher movies.

No need to reboot the Alien Franchise as Prometheus and the upcoming sequel are both prequels in the Alien universe set about 80-100 years in the future. You still have that middle period forward to possibly introduce new AVP films, only if they are done right - none of this thrown together shit and hope it sticks. Way too much CGI.

The current AVP films aren't considered cannon in either film verse as well.
