Why not? In this thread lets post a classic comic cover a day. The rules--

You can only post one a day but can post every day if you like.
It's not just marvel or dc but you can post dell, gold key, now, comico, idw, archie, dark horse, etc.
You can post from any era.
    You can post manga covers!
You can post trade paperback and graphic novel covers.

This is just for fun. I'll start.

Had a soft spot for this cover.

Still one of my all-time favorite Batman stories (and one of the first I ever got in TPB form, which used this one for its cover)...

Maybe this classic + homage thing will be my trademark in this thread.

You missed one. Harley quinn did a nod to that cover.

Dang that counts as my cover for today.

You haven't so much as raised an eyebrow at me for posting classics alongside homages, so go ahead and post another one today. :thumb

Not sure if this counts as classic, but this is my favorite cover of all time by a long shot.

I have that one signed by Dan Slott, who wrote it and later went on to write Amazing Spider-Man for more than ten years!

That Ren & Stimpy issue was Slott's first published Spider-Man ever, as well as being part of a complete breakfast!

Definitely a classic! Any cover which is homaged years later surely must be a classic.

I got up to this issue in the Peter David Omnibus, and some asshat decided to "improve" this classic cover by making the linework on the Hulk's reflection transparent. Ruined it, frankly.

Publishers always run that risk when they recolour vintage art.

It's so tempting to say "this would look so cool if we used modern techniques to colour it properly," but more often than not the art was drawn with then-current colouring in mind and modern colouring on vintage art just looks like a mess.

Whoever took the original comic art and recoloured it for the Fleer Marvel Flair '94 trading cards did a pretty good job.

I'm looking at pictures of them right now - I think most of them hold up quite well.

This is my oldest comic book. Iron Man #21 from January 1970.
