This is the official unofficial TFW2005 hub for pinball of all kinds! If you wanna discuss upcoming tables, reminisce about old ones or talk about pinball in general, here's your place! First bit is this: I recently became one of the people who have played Stern's Dale Jr., and I must say, it's really fun despite being just a reskin of NASCAR. That's my 2 cents, what are yours when it comes to pinball? Sound off below!
I'll see if I can find photos of when I went to the world's largest pinball open play last summer and post them up.
Well crap, I had thoughts about making a topic like this too. Looks like you beat me to it I went to the Southern Fried Gameroom Expo in Atlanta a few weeks ago and in their free-to-play game room I got to try some pins I either had never played or hadn't played in a long time. First time I played Cyclone in maybe 20 years. Also got an idea of what tables I'd like to get on Pinball Arcade. I never played Scared Stiff or Black Knight 2000 before, but loved them at the expo and made sure to get them on my PS3. Also got a Barry Oursler autographed Pinbot poster
Just put up a video of Transformers Pinball on my mini pincab (I know it's not "real" pinball but I enjoy virtual pinballs all the same) Transformers Pinball (Future Pinball table) on my Mini Pincab - YouTube
I've only got a pair of Vpins - the A1U Star Wars and the Atgames Legends Pinball machines. I'd love to have real pinball but I don't want to deal with the maintenance.
My goodness - I started this thread when I was 13. I’m 21 now, with a whole lot more life under my belt than I did then - and with a whole lot more pinball left to play!
Completely understand that feeling towards the maintenance aspect. For the AtGames pin, how is it? Would you recommend it?
It has some flaws. But for the price, it's hard to beat when other Vpins that does what it can do costs twice as much. I enjoy it and play it more often since it's real world based tables
Physical tables aren't a practical option for me right now, but I did go out of my way to make a rare Epic Store purchase to buy the digital version of "Bride of Pin-Bot" for Pinball FX, since buying a Pinball Arcade version isn't an option anymore. If the new FX eventually gets ported to Steam, it might be a rare case of me double dipping. I just love that table.
…..this thread, that is That cat is ADORABLE. Just to reiterate for the sake of the thread: Always loved pinball. Played a lot of Cyclone and Party Animal as a tween. Then a few years later the new (at the time) mall arcade started getting in classic after classic: Addams Family, Twilight Zone, Theatre of Magic, Junkyard, Attack from Mars, Cirqus Voltaire, Champion Pub, etc. Around the year 2000 my parents decided to remodel their basement and asked my advice on what pinball game to get…I recommended Theatre of Magic, my personal favorite, so they found a used one. Shortly afterwards they also got a brand new Pinball 2000 Star Wars Episode I. A few years back I started doing major restoration on ToM, and now it looks and plays better than when my parents first got it (just took a while since we live 5 states apart, and I can only work on it when I visit). They’ve said if I ever want to take the pins to my place I can, but as is usually the case, space is limited. There’s a local place here in Indy called PinVault, where pinball collectors store their games and let the public in to play them twice a month. I’ve wondered if that would be a good place to keep mine.
FYI, anyone with an Atgames VPIN can apparently use the new Steam Deck to play Pinball FX on it. It'll be awfully tempting...
I'll wait to see if the Epic Store exclusivity runs it's course. I am hoping with "Bride of Pin-Bot" there that we're get other classic tables that used to be in "Pinball Arcade" around a decade ago, but were delisted when that license wasn't renewed. I bought a number of them on the mobile app and PS3 versions, but didn't have a modern console version until after that large purge. "Star Trek the Next Generation", the Elvira tables, "Paragon", "Xenon", and others are high up on my want list to play on PC (licensed).
I just don't have a spare PC to hook up to my ALP. As such, I'm running tables that are native to the machine, along with some of the Zaccaria downloads. All in all, I have like 70+ tables on it which keeps me busy enough. But I'd say only half of them are worth their salt.
If you get the PS4 physical copies, Pinball Arcade Season 1 and Pinball Arcade Season 2(no domestic release but it is region 1 so it plays on U.S. consoles), you still get most of those Williams tables including Pinbot and Bride of Pinbot. Those two discs really cover everything. Granted the new Pinball FX(or whatever it is), is a better pinball emulator and makes the Pinball Arcade look its age, however it doesn't have a lot of the games that made the Pinball Arcade so great, yet at least. Williams tends to have the best/most-memorable tables, IMHO. Attack from Mars is probably my favorite. Also, in theme with this thread, visited Bartari in Scranton, PA with my brother and niece and nephew this week. I was pretty floored by the number of pinball machines they had including some new ones like Godzilla. And they all take quarters!
