Got a new case fan tonight. $13 for a 92mm fan at a specialty PC store. Oh, the old one is still fine, but a bit noisy. Downside is the old one runs off the MB while the new one plugs directly into the power supply so the BIOS bitches about no fan being detected. Gonna have to poke around BIOS startup settings and see if that will disable... I will also monitor my PCs temp readings to see if this one runs cooler.

"New plastic smell" abound right now, I expect that to pass in a day or so.

Next I'll look into a power supply, about $40 for a 350 watt with overvoltage protection(my supply is 220 watt, but most video cards want more juice than that). Then RAM, new DVD-ROM and a video card. Definitely gonna look online for RAM as this place wanted $52 per 512MB stick. Maybe a cheap PCI USB card.

Maybe if people refrain from mouthing off to act superior I won't have to get nasty in return.

    Goes for you too.

I think what he is saying is that you always start these threades updating everyone on your computer repair; they get locked and you start over. Can't you just keep updating one threade? I am certain the MODS would be happier.

Oh, yeah. That's a good one also.

I love that Buzzbeak's wisdom is preserved for posterity's sake.

You're selling yourself short, sir. Reviewing it, looks like you demonstrated a little foresight yourself!

Well, I'm not one to toot my own horn.

At least, not after that back injury.

Ok you know what? Domientus, you're free to talk about your repairs and what not in this thread.
However, and this goes for everybody: If the flaming starts, it gets closed and I hand out infractions to anyone involved. No questions asked. Proceed.

We already closed a previous thread about the running journal of upgrading the computer.

That in no way meant that you should start another one.
