Not sure how many Harry Potter readers there are on TFW (though I'm willing to bet there are a few). Today Pottermore launched its Patronus discovery test (like their sorting hat and wand tests before it). It think what's fascinating about it is how many outcomes there are. I've looked at the math behind the sorting hat quizzes, which basically award a certain number of points to each house based in your answers and then tallies up the totals. But so far Mugglenet has accrued 133 unique Patronus animals, based apparently on how you answer questions, how long it takes you to answer them, and how many questions you get asked (which apparently can be altered by some means; I got about seven). Discover your Patronus - Pottermore What kind of stuff gave you gotten? Anything rare?
My Patronus is a big old gangsta ass looking hand flipping the bird all with "H O O D" tattooed on the knuckles. Little teardrops under the letters. Black as hell thumbnail.
I can't take the test unless I'm signed on to their website I just want to know my Patronus and I refuse to make an account for a website I'll never go to/use again.
You can actually delete your account quite easily afterwards. I did it to retake the test (not out of disappointment but because I found it fascinating; also I haven't used PM in years and thusly forgot my passwords) a few times. I ended up with a wolf; which I like because I'm not usually positive enough in spirit to conjure a patronus, so the occasions it would pop up would be suitably dramatic. Also Lupin is probably the best character.
I got the "unusual Snowy Owl". Fitting, since owls are my favorite bird of prey. Edit: Just for the heck of it, I did the sorting house and got Ravenclaw.
I just joined and my Patronus is a rattlesnake. Not sure if I'll actually use the site that often so just out of curiosity, how do you delete your account?
I felt the same, so I typed in what's your Patronus quiz and took one there. Find your Patronus test on quizrocket.com
Go to My Details I think (second to last on the right of the bar) and scroll down to the bottom "how to delete my account" Those will do, but they have a more limited repitoire of animals to work with (and probably rely heavily on the books/movies, leading to a lot of otter and stag patroni).
Thanks for sharing! I'm on a big HP kick, having just reread all seven books (and watched the films) and am reading the play. Got a mastiff. Yeah, that seems to fit.
Yeah, sure, why not? Took all the tests. Not really a Harry Potter fan, so I'm sure there's more layers to it, but: Patronus: Shrew Hogwart House: Hufflepuff Ilvermorny House: Pukwudgie Wand: Chestnut Wood with a Dragon Heartstring Core, 12 inches long with Hard flexibility
Got sorted into Gryffindor. Had a sneaking suspicion it was going to be Hufflepuff. My wand is laurel wood with dragon heartstring core, 13", slightly springy flexibility. Does that say something about me?
From Ollivander's book on Pottermore: "It is said that a laurel wand cannot perform a dishonourable act, although in the quest for glory (a not uncommon goal for those best suited to these wands), I have known laurel wands perform powerful and sometimes lethal magic. Laurel wands are sometimes called fickle, but this is unfair. The laurel wand seems unable to tolerate laziness in a possessor, and it is in such conditions that it is most easily and willingly won away. Otherwise, it will cleave happily to its first match forever, and indeed has the unusual and engaging attribute of issuing a spontaneous lightning strike if another witch or wizard attempts to steal it." The length and "springiness" are just cosmetic things, like what the grip of the wand looks like. Other people used to give further "wand readings" on Tumblr and Reddit, but that might as well be newspaper horoscopes if you ask me.
Oh, the wand test... I got "Ebony wood, Unicorn hair core, 11 ¼" in length, Rigid flexibility" in that thing. Ebony wood is described as a wand for stubborn glitches. Spoiler "This jet-black wand wood has an impressive appearance and reputation, being highly suited to all manner of combative magic, and to Transfiguration. Ebony is happiest in the hand of those with the courage to be themselves. Frequently non-conformist, highly individual or comfortable with the status of outsider, ebony wand owners have been found both among the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix and among the Death Eaters. In my experience the ebony wand’s perfect match is one who will hold fast to his or her beliefs, no matter what the external pressure, and will not be swayed lightly from their purpose."
