    What I was hoping for with the movie, was to see a more indepth look into the past of the sign's... the Autobot and Decepticon symbol. I've seen allot of episodes, all of the G1, G2 and some G3 episodes. Some Armada's and Beastwars... sadly not allot of Beastmachines though... but in all these episode I've never seen or heard any details about the origin of the Transformer emblems.

    Does anyone here know what, where, when??? I mean are they faces of the ancestors of Cybertron, or do they belong to Primus or Unicron?:confused2

    I think in the show, they were shown to be brand emblems when they were quintesson slaves. The autobot symbol identified utility bots, the decepticion symbol identified military bots.

    Exactly! Cool!

    BTW... considering we barely got an explanation of why Autobots are called "Autobots", I think you were expecting too much from this movie. :)

    "Autonomous Robotic Organisms"?? Right. Okay, who gave you that name, Prime?

    I think it was the episode where a Quintesson bult the time portal and sent and handfull of Autobots back in time, where they met A3 (who became Alpha Trion). Can't remember the name of the episode, but I think the female autobot Beta pointed to an Autobot sumbol and said something about them "wearing the mark of the slave" or something. Sorry my info is vague, I haven;t watched my box sets for awhile:)

    Neither one;)

    Elita-1, Chromia, Firestar and Moonracer appeared in The Search for Alpha Trion and it was in Season 2...I think the episode where the Aerialbots went back in time was called War Dawn. It's easy to get confused, with so many similar plots in the G1 cartoon!

    Edit: Found an episode list and the episode in Season 3 I was talking about is called "Forever is a Long Time Coming" I believe.

    Umm...no (espescially since there are plenty of autobots that aren't automobiles and such).

    I've always seen it as:
    Autobot=Autonomous Robot
    Decepticon=Deceptive Construct

    That aside, what does what the name means have ANYTHING to do with the faction symbols (which is what this topic is about)?

    If you pay attention to Dreamwave's comics, all of Cybertron was unified under one banner:

    until the war broke out. I'd guess each faction just modified the old insignia for themselves.

    Ah, so THATs what Decepticon would be in the Movie context, thanks!

    In the current Megatron origin series, you see the Autobot logo all over the place. It seems to be the state flag or something. You can also see proto Decepticon logos, like half sigils, on the necklace things Megatron and the others are wearing. I think Ratbat had one corresponding with the other half, hmmmmm...

    Maybe the IDW origin for that symbol will be symbolic of those two groups teaming up?
