So given the sheer amount of TV spots AoE is turning out to us and the present day of cinema blockbusters, here goes ....

In my best Optimus Prime voice, "I have a bad feeling about this."

Not the movie itself, but for a potentially brilliant storyline which may have been mapped out for the new trilogy as opposed to just green-lighting a sequel based on the success of the previous film ... and a possible decent spoiler-free advertising campaign as well!

Anyway, bear with me folks, this took a lot of typing on a dodgy keypad, thank you   .... Is it just me, or does there seem to be an awful lot of Autobots being revealed and a comparatively smaller number of Decepticons/bad guys receiving 'TV Spot footage?'

My point being, is that in this time of cinematic showcases being full of twists and turns, I honestly think that there is still lots of TF goodness to come.

    For example:

    - Grimlock is massive, we've still to see his robot mode yet he is still big enough for Prime to barely straddle his neck. The same could be said for the rest of the Dinobots, Slag looks second only to Prime in terms of size. And Strafe/Swoop looks like he can carry Bumblebee ... If so, surely this calls for even bigger Cons somewhere down the line ... Bruticus, Predaking, Menasor .. even a really small Trypticon, something to give them a decent fight?

    - The 'other' truck is Galvatron, yet the footage has shown very little of the once-awesome Megatron ... thats even if they acknowledge the connection, I think he is going to be a major player in this new trilogy no? Some Megatron flashbacks to remind him, some vague references spanning G1, Armada etc and general awesomene-ness etc

    - Lockdown is a bounty hunter, and the Payoff trailer's emphasis on Optimus', "Who sent you?"... Does he have ties to either side? Or was the line put in specifically for the trailer (ie out of context)? Either way, there has to be more to Lockdown.

    - Drift .... I'm still not convinced about his 'reformed Decepticon' bio, we've already seen Jetfire thank you Michael ;)

    - The sheer numbers difference! Until now (based on the trailers/TV spots), this is the greatest amount of Autobots in the movie-verse we've seen compared to a much smaller contingent of Decepticons than before. I know there are Vehicons and what looks like generic Con troops, but see my earlier point about Grimlock.

    - Ratchet .... if what's been shown so far is any indicator, the medic is set to meet a rather gruesome end, and I think there will be even more Autobot casualties, which leads me to ......

    - The title itself, Age of Extinction, the word 'Age' implies a lengthy period of time and I really can't imagine Optimus, Bumblebee etc AND the Dinobots losing to Lockdown and some human-made Transformers during the course of one film, again there is so much more we haven't seen yet IMO.

Maybe I'm thinking too much on this. However I just feel that based on what we've seen so far I'm really hoping AoE has saved the best parts for the film itself; a lot of twists and turns leading into films 5 & 6 as part of one big story arc. Here's to ye all!

what is the back stab theory you mention in your headline?

the human made transformers and Lockdown's own ship armada would be enough to warrant needing the dino bots help. and once again hitting the movie cliche of showing lots of action by killing countless drones.

but the kreon set with the large galvatron gives me hope there is something more to that character. whether he is a combiner or using stilts remains to be seen.

Do you mean all the ships in Earths orbit? Didn't know that was Lockdown's armada, how do you know that?

And Back stab as in all the trailers and TV spots look as if the Autobots don't really look in any sort of danger given who they have in their ranks compared to the bad guys.

The ships in orbit have not been confirmed to be with lockdown at all.

What reason do we have to believe the Kreon set is anything other than artistic license?

So is the ship armada you talk about here speculation or fact? Because you make it sound as if its fact.

you see them shooting ships in the trailers. crossshairs with his parachute scene, the scene with the bridge in chicago, the scene with the building exploding.

scene with bee being chased in the air and using a boat to deflect fire. and on and on.

*not talking about those ships in space, only the ones we see on earth.

Does he have an armada either?

.... and here was me thinking I was making some valid points for discussion ;)

I was basically making the point that based on what we've seen from the trailers, I think it all looks very Autobot friendly with not really any major threats ... and I personally think there are some major surprises to come thats all.

He may have an armada. No one knows for sure. We don't know if all those ships are from the Dinobots coming to earth scene in the movie opening, or if they belong to lockdown or even something/someone else. So for anyone saying they are lockdowns, it's not proven "yet" to be true. That's all I'm saying.

And I agree that I believe there are some major Con surprises yet to com.

I think he's referring to the Decepticon Gunships in the trailers that were in DOTM, because he mentions Crosshairs shooting at them.

I don't think we've seen Crosshairs shoot at the ships up in orbit lol ;)

Why do you find the "reformed Decepticon" bio "unconvincing"? Former brutal Decepticon turned sword wielding Autobot was Drift's whole deal from his inception. Until James Roberts got a hold of him and decided that he was just flaky, becoming super passionate to the point of obsession with one thing after the other. Drugs then Decepticon rhetoric then martial arts then the Autobot cause and most recently religion.

... I doubt AoE's gonna go with that second, more interesting one. WAY too much psychology for a character in these movies. But that whole Avatar/Dances With Wolves/The Last Samurai former-opressor-learns-the-opressed's-struggle-and-switches-sides-angle is a classic trope.

I know what Drift's deal is, I meant that it would be cool if there is a sense of doubt over his loyalty making him even more mysterious.

And dang! I never gave it a thought alot of those ideas would require psychology.

It's psychology or an hour of 'Bay-hem' .. can't have both :lol

I don't think Lockdown has anything to do with the gun-ships, I could be wrong. Just seems like being on his own without any more ships makes him more badass.

That sort of goes against the character. I mean, sure, the other characters might doubt him, but he's really super serious about the Autobot cause.

Easy choice. I hate Bay's action anyway.

I think the ships from DotM are salvaged by the humans, and retrofitted to be piloted from afar as drones.

I can imagine that Mr Bay is saving a majority of Galvatron's screen time. I don't think he would miss the opportunity to bring back a badass Decepticon leader again! Megatron in TF1 was strong, ruthless and gave you a feeling that 'you wouldn't want to be on his bad side'. IMHO I think the entirety of the way Galvatron is designed, I just think he looks evil and badass!

i like the idea, but i don't get that feeling. galvatron on the ground with prime standing over him in the trailer doesn't make me think he is kicking butt.
