I think it's because FoC brought him into the spotlight again for a lot of folks. FoC gets a toy line, Metroplex is in the trailer, Metroplex toy announced and viola! Instant confusion.

That's a sweet looking custom....I still like the Takara/Hasbro one though. I just ordered a Takara FOC Prime and Jazz from tfsource :)  Going to wait until my next cheque to get the Combaticon set...

Here's my more game accurate Bruticus.
I had to do some mods to get him to work, though.

I had just assumed that he wasn't all that accurate of a toy, but I can see now that you are correct. My bad, thanks for the info.

Although this does lead me to question, like it did for other people, if there will be an addon kit from a third party to make him more like the FOC character

Considering how big the character is, that would be a lot of plastic add-ons!

You're right, it could be pricey!

Going back to the FOC Metroplex is generations metroplex confusion, I think a big reason people were getting confused is that the SDCC Metroplex comes with those mini figures, including Starscream in his FOC incarnation.

A lot of people were getting confused with the Generations line, partly fault with retailiers advertising certain figs as "Generations Fall of Cybertron" when they had nothing to do with the FoC line at all. Examples are many places that say Generations 30th Springer as Generations FoC Springer, which is not the case. As such, when Generations Metroplex was revealed, I too was under the impression that he was part of the FoC line, it wasn't till I got to see the figure that I realized he wasn't part of it at all. The only thing he had related to the game was the voice waves and that that SDCC/Hong Kong exclusives came with a Starscream mini-fig in FoC mold. I wanted Metroplex SOOOO badly, now that I know he's not part of that line, or better stated: he doesn't look like that of the game, my interest in him has dwindled.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. That looks fucking PIMPTACULAR! :D

Generations Metroplex is close enough to be a stand-in for FoC Metroplex (who we'll probably never see anyways). Same color layout, same general design, same cannons of shoulders, same red glowy thing on the chest. Plus he uses a sound clip straight from the game.

Well, he is a version of Metroplex, of course, hence the similarities. :)

If I'd have to pick between the two though, I'd totally pick the FOC design over what we've got. Looks much more imposing to me - and although I'm not happy the way they beefed up the bots for this sequel, I think it works for a character like Metroplex, who's huge.

Generations Metroplex is an awesome figure, but he's just not as imposing as a FOC Metroplex would be, who has a smaller head and bigger limbs, adding to the illusion that he's even bigger and bulkier. :)

Still..we got something many of us thought would never happen..so yay!

Can somebody post a side by side comparison of Bruticus/Ruination next to the Generations Metroplex?

Bruticus and Metroplex are compared in Peaugh's video review of Metroplex iirc. Metroplex simply dwarfs Bruticus much like Bruticus dwarfs the other FoC deluxes.

My FoC Bruticus and Magnus are at my office and I'm not going in today, but any of the WfC or FoC deluxes only stand as tall as Bruticus's kneecap. Since he has deluxes for limbs he's fairly big.

All of the WfC and FoC Decepticon deluxes together in my office in front of Bruticus, for size comparison.
