How much time/effort does one have to put into this?

Not too much since roster changes are limited to once a week.

You have to set your roster for the following at by Sundays at 11:50PM.

Adding and dropping players is completely up to you as to how often you want to.

Yeah, unfortunately weekly roster changes is the only equalizer for those who don't have time to check their rosters every day.

It's mainly to prevent too much of a revolving door pick up/dropping of players.

I tried daily roster changes before and one guy literally went day to day picking up starting pitching. 'Course there's a downfall to that but it's just much easier setting it at a weekly roster change and not having to install an innings pitched limit.

I'd love to join but I am not a stathead so I doubt I'll be able to draft well.

Agreed. I'd like more than ten for the amount of teams.
You don't really need to be a stathead to be successful. You can draft players you like. I'm sure you're well versed enough in baseball to know what players are good, what players suck, and what players are good at specific things.

Give it a try. You may like it a lot.

I have to agree I've been playing Fantasy Baseball for the past 2 years. I was horrible at drafting last year (Derek Jeter first round, bad idea). I invested some time and have decided to take a different approach this year. I have to say once the season begins, even if you drafted horrible you can pick up some good players. As stats don't reflect that a player can have a good sleeper year or not.

There are plenty of websites out there that can give you the basics of fantasy baseball. I like http://www.rotoauthority.com/. I'm sure others would be willing to provide help :)  .

Well I did my first draft for one of my teams. I think this went better than my drafts last year. I still have one more draft scheduled for next week which I may end up moving to a different draft date. I only made 1 mistake, I drafted James Loney instead of Chien-Ming Wang in the 14th round. I over looked that I drafted a first-baseman earlier, and sorta panicked LOL.

We have ten, that's plenty. Heck, too many more and it would feel overcrowded, twelve would be the best number, I think. But if we do have more that's fine too.

Something of a bumpity bump

My computer, being a bit underpowered, will not allow me to take part in the live draft. Checked on the test your system part :( .
So I'll have my players arranged on the auto draft and hope for the best................If I get the first pick I'll know who I'm getting, heh,

Draft is done   I seem to be pitching heavy and short a catcher. Razerwire beat me to my beloved Joe Mauer by one spot.  So you need any starting pitching Razerwire????????:)

Overall I'm pretty happy with my pitching-Santana, Halladay, Hernandez, Carmona, Nathan and Liriano. I did end up with two players with no MLB experience(Fukodome and some catcher from the Cubs). Took a risk on Carlos (Go-Go) Gomez:ev: ......Yeah I'm a homer..........

    Looking forward to opening day.:thumb
