I wonder if Denny Hamlin finally gets his first championship this year. If he can keep it up in the playoffs, he’s probably the favorite. It’s also nice to see that Jimmie Johnson is currently in line to make the playoffs. While I doubt he’s going to suddenly turn a corner and become the Jimmie Johnson of old again, it’s nice to see him doing better this season and being in the hunt for his final full time season.

NASCAR Xfinity Series: 2020 SportClips Haircuts VFW 200 (Darlington)
Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin duke it out on the final 15 laps of the race. The beatin' and bangin' take their toll, giving Brandon Jones the opportunity to sneak past them on the final lap and take the checkered flag. Only time will tell if the Cup race will be this intense.

This week on NASCAR Silly Season, Bubba Wallace announced he is done with Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of this season. Does this mean he'll take up Chip Ganassi Racing's offer to drive the No. 42 next year?

Silly Season 2021 just got more interesting with new developments.

Chip Ganassi Racing announced that Ross Chastain will replace Matt Kenseth as the full-time driver of the No. 42 Chevrolet next season.

The Circuit of the Americas will join Nashville Superspeedway as the second new track in the Cup Series next season. As COTA is in Austin, Texas, this means that Texas Motor Speedway will lose one of its race dates. Bur then again, one more road course in the schedule is always a good thing.

And we have the second worst-kept secret of Silly Season:

It was officially announced that Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin have purchased Germain Racing's charter and will form a new race team with Bubba Wallace behind the wheel.

    2020 YellaWood 500 (Talladega: Playoff Race #5)

Denny Hamlin beats Matt DiBenedetto and takes over the points lead in a controversial photo finish at Talladega, as NASCAR penalizes DiBenedetto for forcing William Byron below the yellow line and they allow Hamlin to get away with passing cars below the line on the final lap. Chase Elliott is initially penalized for crossing the line, but the decision is reversed after it is revealed that Chris Buescher forced him down; as a result, Elliott keeps his sixth-place finish and collects more Playoff points. And Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon, Clint Bowyer, and Aric Almirola find themselves in a must-win situation next week to advance to the Round of 8.
