Montreal just acquired Scott Gomez from the Rangers

They traded Chris Higgins to get him

I think Montreal fans are already sharpening the pitchforks over this one, especially since they had to give up McDonagh too. Just a terrible trade, Gomez' contract is horrific.

i think what pisses off the fans the most is Bob Gainey's stubbornness to not negotiate contracts during the season and then waiting 1 week before the free agency deadline to submit offers.

Mike Komisarek is most likely gone, Alex Tanguay too, Kovalev might also find a new team. These are players that should have been offered a contract before the All-Star break IMO

I'm surprised the Rangers gave up on Gomez. What's his numbers last year? Bad year?

I'm glad the Flyers got Briere instead of Gomez then.

Marian Hossa, 12 year contract with the Hawks for 5.6 million a year

    It's getting insane

Oh hell yes. Now, if only we could free up some room by getting rid of Huet.

Since Khabibulin is a free agent, i'm thinking he's the one that will make the room on the hawk's salary

    Unfortunately, the likely scenario.

Hawks also sign Tomas Kopecky to a two-year deal. Look like we're taking the "If you can't beat them, sign them" approach to finally being able to topple Detroit. It's like early 1990s Bulls basketball all over again.

I am not sad about Bouwmeester signing with Calgary. I still think he is over rated.

I am sad about losing Craig Anderson to Colorado. I hope he does well there.

I am happy David Booth signed a six-year deal with Florida.

Fantasyhockeywire.com has reported that Alex Tanguay is close to signing with Florida. I hope that is true.

Bulin wall to the Oilers. That's sad. I wish it was Huet. The guy was fantastic in Montreal but has been crap since. I was actually thinking they were going to get rid of Havlat though.

Also, if the past two years have taught us anything, it's that where Hossa goes, a Stanleyt Cup chance follows. But also a Stanley Cup loss.

Wow, I can't believe Buffalo got rid of Spacek.

Also, sorry on the double post but this story is one of the best i have ever read and I completely forgot about until reading a book o nthe Sabres this year.

Buffalo Sabres - Features: THE LEGEND OF TARO TSUJIMOTO - 06/29/2009

I think the best part of the story is that for each call in the following rounds, the league had to pronounce and spell his name for each team.

Now that the Flyers have signed both Ray Emery and former Flyer Brian Boucher, I think Biron is now out the door. :(  I wonder what team he will end up with? Maybe back with the Sabres? Flyers signed right winger Ian Laperriere too replace Mike Knuble.

I'm glad Florida signed G Scott Clemmensen. They said he did well for NJ when Brodeur was injured.

I don't know if it is good or bad that Florida signed D Jordan Leopold. It said that he turned down more money and longer terms with other teams to play in Florida. It also said that D Keith Ballard talked him into signing with Florida.
