Wow! There are some massive and amazingly impressive displays in this thread. well, here is my humble display unit.

I used a Ikea Kallax unit. I added black cardboard to the backs to block them off and also installed Dioder lights.
I also made some risers out of wooden blocks and stained them.
The display is on top of another Kallax unit which has all doors.

I have been interested in the Fabrikors for a while now. No dusting is a plus. But I have a 18 month old son and having a lock would be very nice indeed.
Everytime he sees my display he marches over to them with such a happy face, wanting to play with them. At that moment I normally throw him some old G1 toys which he enjoys just as much. Streetwise is his favorite haha.

Thanks! As far as having the door in the back, we'll see how it actually goes, but I don't think it's going to be that much of an issue. As I said, the door opens fully, and there's plenty of room to reach around (sts). The guys in the back are super easy to take out. I do have to remove some back guys to get to the front guys. But if I had it the other way, I'd still have to remove front guys to get to the back guys! But it is harder to pose them, that's for sure.

I don't think it would stay together without the legs. You put the legs together, then the bottom of unit goes on top of that, then the four corners of the whole unit, and all of that is bolted together at once. Then the bottom shelf over that. I didn't pay attention, but I'm assuming the "nut" part of the assembly is the legs, since those are the bottom part that the bolt goes into. So you'd have to add some sort of flush nut at the bottom to remove the legs.

I think I saw an example of one repainted, so it should definitely be do-able!

Ah yes I'd completely forgotten how it was constructed. Might go down the painting route if only we were sure of getting enough MP Decepticons!!

I'm going to make my Detolfs work for now, but I'm super stoked to expand my display space with some non-Detolf action. Folks on here are super inspiring! Good thing that I have a dedicated room with room to expand.

Maybe you could try stacking it on top of another shelf or even a table the same way people stack Detolfs on top of Expedit?

Ok, display cases that have built-in halogen lighting should be a no-no because of the heat, right?

Looks really good. I may have to pick up one of those Fabrikor cases to lock up some of my pricier figures.

So I've been using my Cybertron shelves for a little while but the dust is such a pain I'm getting my Fabrikor shelves back. In the meantime I had a little brainwave and tried out a little step ladder I got from Ikea. They do smaller step-ladders which might actually look pretty cool. Obviously this wouldn't be a permanent thing for me because of the dust, but it's nice to see the Transformers on different levels like this

There has been a bit of discussion about these shelves on the Detolf display thread so I thought I would try to post some photos of them. They display my MPs and combiner wars figures nicely and give me some storage room as well.

For another Detolf alternative, the Ikea Tockarp cabinet looks pretty nice, and is only $99, but the wood side pillars do obscure some viewing angles. It's also only available in one color.

Sam, have you got your Fabrikor unit back up and running?
I'm thinking of getting one as I think they look very elegant. The only downside is that I have to take the money from the Masterpiece fund :lol

I really like the way those Bestas look. How do they work exactly? You buy the case and the door separately?

Also, what did you use for lighting?

Yes I do indeed! It is pricy but I just love the look of it and fortunately my better half does too which always helps :)
Plus I already know if I ever decide to switch displays the cabinet will make a perfect little housing for a guitar or two.

I bought a couple of shelves at Wal-Mart for $15 each, they work ok for new, but I have been looking for some glass enclosed options. The Detholfs are pretty much out of the question, since the nearest Ikea is 2 hours away.

This is a great thread to find some cool ideas. I'm moving into a new house in the Spring and I have the advantage of starting with a clean slate. I see some shadowbox ideas I like as well.
