Maybe someone can help me out here with some recommendations.

I have 3 black Billy bookcases that I am looking to light up. I use glass shelves in mine, so except for the fixed middle shelf, everything is on glass.

My current thought is to put 2 Oversidan lights in each case - one at the top, and one under the fixed middle. Does anyone have a setup like this to where I could see how the lighting looks before I invest? Specifically black bookcases with glass shelves. Each light would be shining down on 3 rows of figures...just wanting to make sure it's enough light.

You can't see them when the lights are on. But I did start using these at some point.
125" Cable Raceway Kit - Yecaye One-Cord Channel Cord Cover on Wall - Cable Management System - Cord Hider Wire Covers for Cords - Cable Raceway Kit - 8X L15.7in W0.59in H0.4in, Small, CMC03-Black Amazon.com

But they are not on most of the cases.

    EDIT:
It dawns on me you might of want more detail. Each puck light has one cable. So they are run to the back and put through a drilled hole. They are pulled tight enough where the cable hugs the shelf. On the back of the shelves the mess is held together with ties so it one big mass of cables. It started using the wire channels to be more professional looking, but for the most part from the front you can't see the cables unless I did not pull them tight enough. I secure them on the back with tape to hold them wires in place. The back of the shelves do look like some kind of wire mess, but its pretty contained.

Not sure how happy I am with his pose. I may tinker with it some more.

So making the display box helped me find the solution to something I've been pondering for a year now. I wanted to add acrylic to my shelves, but my previous solution of velcro would not work with billies and other shelves. Everytime I would take them off half the figures would fall down. So the answer was magnetic tape with A and B polarity so they adhere to each other. I applied my solution to my black series shelf.

    Here is the results
    20230321_161037.jpg 20230321_161047.jpg

Its two pieces of acrylic, 30x60 and 28x30 cut to end at a shelf. I cut the 28x30 in half and its the top shelf. The boarders are 1 inch vinyl tape used for pinstripping cars.

I have to dust like a 100 figures. So it will be awhile before I can share finished pics.

    Did you make those backgrounds?

Very clean. I like those acrylic stands. I have some for my Joes. Need to pick up some more.

Yes, I have acess to a large format printer, but I could have made them with a standard printer if I had to. Would have had to put them together in pieces though.

It took me 3 hours to dust everything in this display. It cost me about a $100 to add the acrylic windows. Value of not having to dust again? Priceless.

I like really bright lights. They look amazing in person, but don't always photograph well. Wish I had better photography skills.

I added windows to the case under Galactus. It was made by my dad so I have dubbed it Daducase 2.0. I also started on my 16 cube kallax.

I had a ton of bits and pieces from various displays lying around. I asked my father to turn them into risers. This is the results he sent me.

    IMG_20230402_180634.jpg

I wanted something much longer than you can buy. The large ones are about 26 in.
wide/4.5 in. tall., and each can fit two smaller ones underneath.

    EDIT:
    4x4 Kallax done

Side note, if you attempt doing this you need to nail the magnetic tape to the wood and use a strong glue to glue the magnetic tape to the acrylic. It still works but it a level of annoyance I had not counted on.

Haven't been here for a while... Something interesting from a 1/6 thread that I'm on.

    Quotes from the thread:

"I was looking to buy more Ikea Rudstas from Ikea and saw this new display case. Comparing to detolf, looks similar in design but has a thicker frame and a solid door to keep dust away. Will be picking one of these this weekend and provide insight if this is worth a pick up."

    States - BLÅLIDEN Glass-door cabinet, black, 133/4x125/8x591/2" - IKEA = $100USD
    Canada - BLÅLIDEN Glass-door cabinet, white, 35x32x151 cm (133/4x125/8x591/2") - IKEA CA = $130 CDN

Screenshot 2023-07-07 011425.png Screenshot 2023-07-07 011637.png Screenshot 2023-07-07 011746.png Both available in Black and White

    "It looks nice"

"I saw this when I picked up my 2nd detolf the other day. It’s quite a bit smaller than the detolf which is good if you don’t have too much space but for me the size of the detolf was perfect. Wish they made this in the same size as the detolf tho, I really like how it looks."

"It's smaller than the detolf, in height, width and depth. Not sure how to feel about this but I don't think the detolf is coming back."

"Looks like it would be way better for that spontaneous glass explosion."

"That looks nicer to me. I like it. Wish it would have a lock but looks clean. Not sure the measurement differences though. I may pick one up just to do it when the store around me gets one in"

"Looks like a great replacement. The integrated lighting is super cool."

"Very interested in a comparison, at $30 less that will add up in savings"

"Smaller, but a sealing door…oh I can’t stress how annoying dusting detolf contents is. This is a good upgrade. Just wish it anticipated lighting on each shelf with an easy way to hide cables"
