The lack of showing the finalized robot form and cutting away before the transformation is completely is the absolute worse editing choice I've ever seen and it damages the films marketing.

Normally at this point of time people would be changing profiles to robots in the movie, sharing screencaps of the high quality robot modes, making fan arts, etc... in this case though without the finalized robot modes appearing its withdrawn that community aspect and a lot of the fan-orientated side of the marketing campaign for this film.

It also removes the money shots of the characters from the trailer, what's the point of seeing Mirage transform if we don't see him actually in his finalized robot mode. Why have a shot of Bumblebee transforming but cut away before the panels align? Why have a shot of Optimus transforming but cut away when he looks like an absolute unrecognisable mess leaving that image ingrained in the mind of whoever is watching the trailer.

It's already bad enough that many of the Transformers are hollow with no interior parts as shown by the transformation of Mirage where nothing is connected to anything as demonstrated when the car rotates around, but at least let us see the robot forms.

 

Yup! I think the designs are pretty fucking horrible. I never bashed the actual individuals responsible for creating the vfx. Whoever was behind the concept art that got chosen for the models? Yeah, I personally don’t like their designs. Anything else?

 

Do you like Transformers? Seems like you're just here to see generic robots that happen to also convert into things. At least, that's the only way I can make sense out of your comments. If so, I highly recommend the Transmorphers series. It sounds like something more up your alley.

 

I honestly don't know why people are complaining about Prime's design, who also liked the BB movie design, it's basically the same.

If anything it looks more like the original concept art.

 

Because he looks anorexic and proportional awkward compared the to the BB Model.

Okay, I see it, thanks for the clarification.

It looks like he doesn't have the red plating along the sides, which gave him a more super hero look. Now he appears more alien in proportion, like no way is he the "ideal" human form. Nevertheless, I'm fine with it, looks just as good.

And, more importantly (and admittetly anticodal) every non-super transformer fan I show it to says, "Optimus looks great, best he has ever looked", so it's getting the job done.

 

If i was The Director of.ROTB part 2:
- i would did a similar scene of TF2007 where Sam meet The autobots but with Noah and Elena Meeting the autobots .
- I would did a scene of Prime using The matrix of Leardship to weak UP The Maximals .

 

Prime's design is probably one I have the least amount of issues with. I think overall he looks fine... I don't get why his hands are now grey / silver, I think the arm cannon looks goofy sprouting out of his arm. While I don't hate the face / mouth I thought Bumblebee did a good job showing us he didn't need one. They also didn't need to remove as much color as they seem to have done from his design in Bumblebee.

This aversion to putting color on their robots is bizarre.

Someone choosing to not blindly consume whatever [insert corporation here] puts out doesn't at all mean they don't know how to have fun. Some of us simply have a thing called 'standards' and would prefer the products we were sold weren't total garbage.

If you enjoy disposable entertainment that's perfectly fine but it'd be unwise to get huffy at those who have higher standards than yourself and expect better from these companies.

You definitely won’t find me on here telling folks their opinions are shit like the majority of y’all do. I just think constantly whining and complaining about every little thing is kind of childish. You can critique things without sounding like a brat.

 

This thread is about to get locked again, I reckon. Hope we get to page 600 before then lol.

My take on this whole debacle is that, I'll wait till we get full designs of the characters as we only got a glimpse of most of them. Designs will probably change every movie.

I'm just curious as to if we get more characterization from the Transformers themselves, since there is much opportunity there for the general audience understand and connect to the characters we love.
