-Budget larger than Bumblebee, but still manageable (I had heard in the $150 million area)
-Larger robot cast, but not too many (around 2007 movie level, 5 vs 5).
-No Beast Wars (was a separate project)
-Tone much closer to Bumblebee than to Bayverse
-Almost the entire movie was to take place in New York. No globe trotting.
-Optimus as the clear main character
-Simplified marketing campaign that really focused on characters and ideas general audiences know. I saw early marketing material for the movie to be called "The Transformers.

 

This is a good way of putting how this movie feels

 

I still think they should've gone that route straight on from Bumblebee, reintroduce the Autobots, then go on to a bigger film with the Maximals. But we're getting what we're getting so I guess we'll never know.

 

Yeah they should have gone that route but what were getting is what where getting complaining is gonna change it I guess.

Sad this isn’t what they went with but nothing you can do.

So far the only real carryover is Prime being the main character.

 

Woke Bot: Basically predominately minority cast plays second fiddle to the CGI characters while the Bayverse had predominately white cast that was front and center of the movie. [TRIGGERED!!!]

Yeah, this is what they should have done. There's just so much going on in this film. They should have just focused on creating a good small scaled ensemble film that served as a starting point for a rebooted franchise. From there, they could have branched out to do something more experimental and include the Maximals then. "The Transformers" would have been a perfect title. Transformers Rise of the Beasts sounds like another entry in the Bayverse (and maybe that's intentional).

 

i love how from what we see. the movie starts as standard beginning transformers stuff. person gets car, it's alive! and it escalates from there as we meet the beasts and eventually get to that insane final battle. its what every story should be. start somewhere and end somewhere else completely different. I just hope it does the transition well.

 

They should have but whatever. Still gonna watch this version and hope for the best with ROTB. Tbf I feel like that title is less Bayverse-y intended and more how some in Hollywood thinks titles should be.

This is pretty much summed up perfectly.

Just build it up. That's all they needed to do. Like, why is there a 7 year gap between this movie and Bumblebee? What the hell have the Autobots been doing for 7 years? If we had gotten a movie set in 1990 or 1991 which saw the Autobots begin to adapt to life on Earth, where they started to look around North America for some way to get home (Which would explain how they started in California at the end of BB, and ended up in New York like we'll see in ROTB). And maybe just have some random Decepticons show up along the way.

 

I really liked when Steven Caple Jr. and Anthony Ramos in that new interview discussed escalation and how the conflict slowly grows to encompass the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons as the movie progresses, specifically how it highlights that "good and evil" transcends factions. It has me hopeful that it won't just be action for the sake of action.

 

The piece that's actually over his knuckle isn't fur. That's just a cracked skin armor piece like on the other hand. It looks somewhat fuzzy because of the image quality. It only looks like the actual fur patch is going over the knuckle because of that and the twisting angle that the arm is at.

As for the abs, I say again, that is very clearly the result of his movement flexing and revealing different pieces of armor components at the different angles of viewing. This isn't hard guys. They're the same model. Just because it's harder to make stuff out on the packaging doesn't mean this is some kind of early design or concept render.

Found Primal's teeth by the way. Zoom in on his face in the shot where he's standing tall and pounding his chest at the humans.

 

If I were the director of ROTB I would start the movie like this:
-it would start by showing Axalon and Darksyde falling to earth and we would see the maximals and Predacons scanning their beast versions
- a scene in the present showing Scourge killing an Autobot, (maybe bee) and the terrorcons around him and taking the dead boy to his Terrorcon cave where he would have the bodies of other transfomers there as Scourge trophies in addition to the insignia on his chest

 

if i were the director id have one very quick shot of like. a rubber suit prime punching rubber suit scourge on a tokusatsu set and it never happens again. its quick enough to make the audience question reality

 

Can't wait to see how much this trailer is improved by next year.

 

Same, will be nice to be able to see the progression of the cgi as we get new looks at the film.
