Love it or hate it, this is the EPIC remold we've waited five years for. The new combiner mode head for the newly named "Nexus Maximus". Alot of folks have many varying opinions about it. It's too big for Heatwaves bot mode, or The design doesn't match the FP Club comic from years back (glyphs on the wall that skyfall saw). Whatever your opinions or thoughts, share them here.

Personally, I can see the slight resemblance to the standard "Prime" helmet design, although loosely at best. I think the chin could help him to even jump over into the animated universe if he should ever want to. However upon further inspection, I suspect that the new "expensive" head doesn't seem to be made of the same red plastic as the rest of the figure. The plastic feels and looks visually to be a very slight bit cheaper quality. Could it possibly be that so much money went in to R&D that they had to sacrifice a little quality? You decide.

 

I see nothing epic about the remold the head is just plain nasty looking and very underdetailed

 

it's there...little better than the bruticus maximus head.....a tiny tiny tiny bit better....

five years wasted on meh molds....would have liked the entire set of bruticus maximus done in these colors instead, made the tank and helicoptors reversed colors so you do not have two tanks and two whirly birds the same color scheme...using a mix and mash of the superion set and bruticus set gives this thing a freakish frankenstein look and feel to it....

 

I just took and painted mine a little, somewhat similar to RiD Prime.

the "mask" bits that surround the mouth are now silver, except the 'chin' which is still red. also the rim around the forehead vent is now silver, as are the captain america wings on the sides of the head. Now it doesn't look quite so bad.

 

The new head's mohawk is too tall to allow Heatwave's backpack to fold up in robot mode. It strains that weak hinge to even attempt to fold the cab panels properly.

 

Yeah, there's a lot wrong with it... from (what appears to be) sub-par plastic used (I agree with others whom say it feels like different plastic than that used on the rest of the figure)... to the fact that the head is really too large to allow Heatwave to be transformed properly (as was pointed out... it stresses an already delicate hinge to attempt to close the panels properly).

I already sold all my other figures from this set and this one will be the next to go... I've really been underwhelmed by these figures the whole time and never cared for the reds and blues used in the set.

True enough... but it is funny that they would choose such a name... and begs a few questions considering how... popular... this particular NSFW item seems to be on Google... I mean, seriously, why Nexus Maximus and not Nexus Prime? He is one of the original Thirteen anyways right?

 

While I agree with you, I think they wanted to stick with the "Maximus" surname of the energon combiners.

 

Underwhelmed but don't hate it. Would've preferred a translucent red.

 

Yeah, I can see it... but I guess, in my mind... these guys aren't part of the Energon Combiner group. Eh, just my opinion.

 

Just wondering if anyone have pics of him put together? Can sort of visualize it but pics would've helped a ton.

Just received Heatwave today. I love the new head sculpt, but the combined mode stinks.
