Easy pass for me. I never even heard of Dr. Spectrum. That costume reminds me of DC's Rainbow Raider.
Got real lucky today and found a Sentry! It was the only Legends that particular Walgreens had, and as a bonus it was even on sale! But of course, in the establishment of universal balance, there was also a Walgreens that had a singular Lady Beetle.
Man, just heard about the SH Figuarts Garfield Spiderman. Oof. Makes me think we're not getting an Andrew Garfield head for any Hasbro releases.
My understanding is that Garfield doesn't want his likeness made in toy form. So he won't sign contracts with studios that have that in them and he won't participate with toy companies either. On an unrelated note I've met him in person three different times working at cons and... the guy's a real douche irl.
Hm. But we have the leak that says there is an unmasked version of him coming to Legends this year. Will be interest to see if that’s true.
It will be a "close enough" sculpt? Kind of like Hasbro making a Jazz that's nearly a Porsche? Or maybe the leak is correct and we're just not interpreting it correctly? Maybe it isn't an Andrew Garfield unmasked that's coming?
Yeah, and originally when the SHF was solicited it was going to come with an unmasked head as well. Now they're canceling the current solicitation with the unmasked head and they're going to re-solicit it without the unmasked head. Hasbro has done two Amazing Spider-Man figures before one for the first film's suit as part of a Wal-Mart exclusive subline and the second film's suit was part of the Ultimate Green Goblin baf wave. It's telling that neither of those releases had unmasked heads. I mean... for the sake of the fans it would be great if Hasbro somehow managed to strike up some kind of deal with him, but I'm not holding my breath. Also, did the leak for the solo Amazing Spidey actually say it would have an unmasked head, or was that fan speculation as to why the three Spideys that are getting released in a three-pack for NWH would get solo releases not even a full year later. From what I recall of the leaks that seems more like fan speculation.
The leak specified unmasked head For all 3 of them. It didn’t specify if it would come with a masked head as well, but we are all assuming/hoping it does. now the leak could be wrong, but that’s what it said.
He's pretty cool, I think I'm in on him........ Yep, the 4 retro Xmen I have on order with Target updated for me as well..... Yep, I just shipped MOTU Stratos and Roboto + Threezero Roadblock a few days ago. Standard operating procedure, as soon as you ship something else drops......
I had to double check but the Wal-Mart Amazing Spider-Man fugue that came with backpack and skateboard did have an unmasked head. Forgot I even had the figure lol
It's interesting that they haven't done him in Marvel Legends proper since he did get done in the 4" line a year or so before it went defunct.
I'm sure it's wrong at this point. I had assumed Sony and Marvel had locked up likeness rights for his appearance in No Way Home when this and the Hot Toys figure were announced, but that's clearly not the case. Hasbro has done X-Men movie figures and Sgt. Slaughter, but those are exceptional, and I can't imagine they're going to be able to cover costs that Bandai couldn't at a higher price point.
It's possible they did have something worked out but he pulled his support or something due to not approving the likeness. I remember when Hasbro was working with the X3 cast back when they first took over the line around 08/09 they actually had to send the sculpts to the actors for final approval of their likeness. Could be a situation where Bandai sent it and Garfield decided he didn't like it and Bandai decided it wasn't worth trying to fix whatever he had an issue with so they dropped it. Unfortunately, unless we hear something from Garfield or a Bandai rep it's hard to know what actually happened in this situation.
This is possible, but I can't imagine it's likely. I know they're going to get lots of cancellations since the unmasked head was the primary appeal. On the other hand, a delay in the production schedule could be similarly impactful. We're never going to learn why this specific cancellation happened, but we may be able to speculate based on what happens with other products later. I think skepticism is much safer than optimism now. Everything else on the leak list has held up, but the No Way Home wave always seemed unusual to me. If they had the rights for all the actors, wouldn't the better release be an exclusive multipack like the Pulse one with masks only?
I think they've said it will take years to retire. They have like five pinless molds and while one thing is using them, nothing else can use them.
