Spent quite a while getting these photos but at least I finished before the end of the month! My top 10 of 2022!

    20230120_164538.jpg

While most were released in 2022, I know a few are older figures. But they were '22 acquires for me regardless, so they make my list.

    10. Retro Lizard

    GridArt_20230124_151622759.jpg

I can't lie, the goofy toothless head is what won me over with this guy. He gives off great, charming Ditko vibes with that harmless face, it's great. I was impressed with how well tail and lab coat work, and coming with the chemical bottles was a great touch. I am glad he does come with a more menacing head for fun action shots.

    9. Retro Shocker

    GridArt_20230124_151532562.jpg

Oh Shocker, my favorite of Spidey's goofy lesser known villains (although much less lesser known now that he shows up all the time as the small time baddie Spidey faces first). The quilt man turned out awesome. The detailing is great and I love the effects and swappable forearms. Love that they put more effort into making the gauntlets work by not just having swappable hands.

    8. Archangel

    Screenshot_20230124_153112_Gallery.jpg

I had a real nightmare of a time getting him (ordered the restock on EE, had it backordered, and finally cancelled before starting a long lasting eBay watch to find at an okay price) but I'm glad I finally got him towards the end of the year. He's not exactly a perfect figure, his wings will droop if not positioned right, but he looks really good!

    7. RYV Spinneret

    GridArt_20230124_151855414.jpg

MJ here was a real surprise hit for me! I bought the two pack for the Spidey but I did enjoy RYV, so Spinneret was a welcome addition. But I was surprised to see I liked her almost (but definitely not quite) as much as Peter. A good, fun, and expressive Spider-Fam member.

    6. FFH Mysterio

    GridArt_20230124_151947408.jpg

I know it's not a popular opinion, but FFH might be my favorite Spider-Man movie and Mysterio here is a big part of why. The detail is superb, the cape works well for being plastic, and head is as charming as a fish bowl could be.

    5. 2-Pack Colossus

    GridArt_20230124_152036383.jpg

Colossus was a childhood favorite X-Men and remains so today. So when I saw that 2-pack with Juggernaut it was a quick and easy purchase. And he didn't let me down! The figure has a serious precense among his much smaller X-Teammates.

    4. Retro Scorpion

    GridArt_20230124_152138084.jpg

Scorpion has long been a favorite Spider-Man villain of mine and while this might not be my favorite look for him (that being the more armored looks he's taken in more modern appearances), that doesn't take away at all from how much fun this guy is. After being let down by Doc Ock's pathetic arms earlier in the year I didn't have high hopes for his tail. Needless to say, I've significantly more fun with that than I expected to.

    3. VHS Cyclops

    GridArt_20230124_152215860.jpg

The absolute winner of the VHS line without a doubt. They nailed the look and the shading honestly makes him look better, much to my surprise. I'm super happy to have my favorite look for my favorite X-Men field leader, he looks awesome at the front of my X-Men shelf.

    2. Iron Spider

    GridArt_20230124_152344281.jpg

Its hard not to love this suit and this figure pulls it off quite well. I dig the metallic look and the waldos were surprisingly more posable than I'd expected them to be. Sadly his legs have become quite a bit bent over time but I still like him and I've had a lot of fun with him!

    1. RYV Spider-Man

    GridArt_20230124_152627473.jpg
    GridArt_20230124_152434584.jpg

Quite possibly not just my top figure of the year, but quite possibly my favorite figure I own, period. I simply love this figure. Spider-Man being my favorite superhero helps tremendously of course, but this gives me everything I could want out of a Spider-Man figure.

Honorable Mentions: Ps4 Spider-Man, Pulse Daredevil, and Hawkeye.

    20230124_165552.jpg

They were contenders for my top 10, those were an easy pick honestly, but warrant mentioning. Ps4 Spidey and Daredevil represent the two sides my #1 pick of the year. Ps4 Spidey representing my favorite interpretation of Spider-Man and Daredevil putting the RYV mold to great use, albeit on a character I'm not as huge of a fan of. Hawkeye gets a mention for being a fun version of a character I've really enjoyed over the last decade and whose show I really loved.

Great top ten overview! Very agreed on all the Shocker things but the effects. Loathe those things and ready for something better for all the characters forced to use them - like Shocker should have some that are a single force forward, magic users can have more bubbly ones like this if need be.

    Thank you!

Interestingly, I shipped my POL last week due to some upcoming hold time expirations and nothing else has dropped in yet…

Heck yes to Armor. (As long as her armor is removable, and she can still articulate with & without it.)

If they eventually make the entire Astonishing team, I would not complain at all.

(That image is a good example of why the Cyclops they're already making really needs an alternate unmasked head, by the way.)

Hm. My PoL has to be shipped in 10 days or so. I just ordered Blob. If he hits for me before I ship then great! If not, I'll cancel and keep my Amazon order.

My BBTS package containing AF15 Spider-Man and Scorpion on the other hand was sitting at customs since January 11th and no one called me until today when I checked my post office app and saw it listed there. Should be coming this Saturday.

Is there a reason they're supposed to call you and not just deliver it?

Over here the law/regulations is to call a day or two before delivery to confirm name, address and delivery times and for additional service payments when needed. They don't randomly come and drop packages without even attempting to confirm if someone home or not.

Hmmm, I have mixed feelings about that. I mean, on one hand, it means it'll actually get delivered. On the other, having to receive a call to confirm your information is annoying, especially if you are super busy and don't have time for that.

It's just quick call. Plus would you rather that or having it shipped to the wrong address because they couldn't confirm where your live?

Looks good, but no interest in those two characters. If there's one team I can entirely skip, it's the Squadron Supreme. I'm similarly uninterested in Alpha Flight but even with them I have Sasquatch and Guardian. And I'd probably get Box if they made him.

We've already got a serviceable Nighthawk and Speed Demon. Just do a decent Zarda and call it a day

We had a serviceable Hyperion and he got replaced. Nighthawk is black now so I think they kind of have to redo him.

Also Speed Demon is a totally different character. The Squadron Supreme speedster is the Whizzer and they haven't done him.

Since I'm not too familiar with the characters, this was always going to be a pass for me, but it's wild that they're still using Bucky Cap after more than ten years. I get that this isn't a big name character but why couldn't this use the Vulcan mold?

Yeah. Zero interest in Squadron Supreme. Only version of Hyperion I'm interested in is the version that had a black costume and was a member of the Avengers circa 2012 that became pals with Thor. Easy pass.
