Animated Spidey arrived today in a nice fresh envelope, so naturally, the card was bent up. If he had the holes to put the webwings into like the Amazing Friends one did, this would have become my default Spidey as I love the shade of blue used.
Finally did something with that Lilandra noggin. Mixture is of Jocasta and a Mythic Legions Iron Knight fig.
I just think that Moira and the Hood are great as just casual people for whomever you want to take a picture of.
Got some bad news and good news. The bad news is my retro Symbiote Spider-Man preorder from Deep Discount got canceled. The good news is that they already shipped it to me in August. They refunded me $24, but I definitely don't remember ordering more than one. Should I contact them? Or just take the refund and not question it?
So after making the movie and mcu Howard's I decided to go for the trifecta and see if I could pull off a comic howard. Since the rest (or at least most) of my comic figures don't do soft goods I knew I wanted to try a non soft goods approach. Search about a bit and found the Disney toybox donald duck was articulated and fit the bill. This is what he looks like new in hand. After some sanding, cutting, and sculpting this is what I ended up with. here he is with the movie and mcu Howards. In retrospect I wish I had used a smother yellow, the paint was near dry and I added water but it made it really thick and you can see the brush strokes. I am striking it up as feathers but it does bother me a bit. Also I didn't want to touch the duck bill buy now kind of wish I had resulted it a bit because he is smiling more than I meant for him to be. Also a side project I talked about. Taking a shang chi and making him look like iron man in the lab. Goal is to homage this as best as possible: Well shang chi torso won't take dye AT ALL. The shoulders did some and it screwed up the neck paint because I didn't tape it off good enough but that is fixable. It is unfortunate the torso wouldn't take dye so the red is still evident but I did a super dark wash on it to try to match the shoulders after they did get dyed a bit. The arc reactor was a bit of a hassle. I took a cap of a needle (from one of my diabetic shots after it was used and in the trash) and drilled a hole in the chest that is just a tiny bit smaller than the needle cap end was. Then I cut it to fit, used some styrene to make the triangle and filled it with paint tinted resin. After sanding and getting it even after it dried I can see in the picture some air bubbles that didn't get filled. So gonna have to touch that up. The top of the shirt I did a heavy gray wash to replicate the gray and black of the original but I am not super in live with it. This remains a work in project on my to be finished stuff because I need to source a head (have some of the original legends ones but I like the one that came in the mark 85 vs thanos pack better and I dont have it) and I need to do a lot of touchup stuff on it. Edit: would have helped to put the arms amd shoes back so you could see those. This arm is from a mark7 I think but it fit perfectly and retains all articulation.
Great job on comic Howard, lol. I had to look up what he is supposed to look like, and I think you pretty much got him. The cigar is hilarious.
That whole wave has been available on Amazon for a while too, so if you're in a hurry you could cancel those Pulse orders and they'll arrive on Saturday if you have Prime. And even if you don't, you'll trigger the free shipping and still have them by or before the 3rd most likely.
I finally opened up my Galactus. The Silver Surfer had just one energy effect packed in with him, I thought pics showed him with two. Was that the same for everyone? Other than that it's pretty great in hand. I wish they would include some more instructions though, like with how you're supposed to pose Nova with the fire etc and the small stuff like that. For the price a full color booklet should've been included.
Just missing woo now...for some reason he didn't make the amazon shipping cut even though he's in stock...
Classic loki has got to be the highlight of this wave...oozing personality...witch and Tony share parts from their normal look mcu counterparts...have to send not-kang back due a defective arm but his likeness is great glad they figured a way to package Loki's alt head in a tiny cardboard cage so that the horns didn't get bent
Just got an alert from BBTS that the retro X-Men series is about to hit my POL along with classified Dusty. Man, the end of the year is brutal to my wallet.
All of them? I only got a message that just Spiral and Avalanche would be hitting it, but not Dark Phoenix.
