I think we’ll see it again in the mainline without the lighting paint apps nor the swappable head
That's what I am thinking. No 1994 reflective colors on mainline.
Cool idea for a figure, but I never liked the cartoony look they used for Venom with the blues and reds on him. It's definitely accurate though and looks good for those who loved the show. I'll skip it but if they redeco it as a more classic comic Venom I could be in.
Problem is it only makes sense if the light is coming from the left side. I get what Hasbro was attempting and it does make sense for an exclusive. However for consistency, there is a way around it so that highlights and reflective lighting could work no matter where the light is coming from, but it would be more expensive due to careful application of washes with certain areas hit with a gradual gloss sheen.
Almost but not quite… as always Hasbro, you sadistic sonofagun, lol
That Venom is ugly. What's with the red and blue on him? It looks really bad on his lips as if he couldn't decide what color lipstick to wear so he Two-Face'd it.
Do we know where this is actually exclusive to since it's listed as a Partner Exclusive? I typically have better luck going through the actually retailer than Pulse.
It looks like it's on the same buck as Omega Red.
As for the lighting... yeah it only works for the one angle but it looks damned cool still. I'm getting hit with so much nostalgia with this release. Especially with the animation accurate headsculpt.
It's to evoke the lighting from Spiderman the animated Series
Wonder how good it would look used for V1/V2 Sabretooths
I get that, but it just doesn't work unless you can always have your Venom displayed next to a cop car.
Now I'm worried for that rumored Hobgoblin as I fear it's going to have unneccessary cartoon shading that can only work in one direction.
I think Sabretooth would be great on this buck. Venom and 90s Sabretooth have been two of my biggest wants for redos ever since Hasbro made the new large buck for Omega Red. The Sentry buck just never worked for me. It always seemed oddly proprtioned.
I love the stupid shading. Though I wish it was pink like his first appearance instead of red from his second.
I mean, it works cause that's what animated Venom looked like, no matter the lighting condition. There's no way they won't release this figure later with a more traditional color scheme.
Hopefully with a completely different head without the lips.
It should be a Pulsecon exclusive this year, but maybe it'll be released at Walmart's collector con thing as well, which is why it's considered a partner exclusive.
Oh man, I am so down for this. Since this is a MOC-buy for me, I don't mind the shading issue of it being one-sided.
I am also so sad for the price. Yikes.
Hopefully, it'll be available long enough for me to buy one.
Toyshiz's review of Venom.
Is this a recolor of the old Venom buck?
No, different body
A bit late to the party with this one. It’s a fantastic figure. Really really fun.
Hope we get more classic suits after the modular releases. I’d really like to have all the main suits leading up to Extremis, and I’d love a new Extremis that wasn’t an upscale of a 3 3/4 inch figure.
