I went back to watch Age of Ultron recently specifically to watch the Quicksilver scenes and to me his role was bigger than Wanda's. He's actually pretty funny in the movie. Glad that he's finally getting the Legends treatment. Would love an AoU Wanda to go with him though.
Picked up a few of these in UK ASDA and I just really don't get them. I understand the concept behind them... I just think they're quite pricey for what basically looks like intentionally half-arsed "retro" sculpts. They look super rigid too (Not as bad as Titan heroes though) and just don't seem fun. If I was them I would have made the sculpts a bit more dynamic and high quality, change the shoulders to balljoints for added playability, and they could have been something really great.
Much like the Super 7 ReAction figures, they're really just there to hit the nostalgia button of 40-somethings who remember buying toys like this back in the '80s. There's a whole market for "neo-retro" figures at the moment. Funko was even in on it for some time with their Savage World stuff that was done like the old MOTU line. But I agree... I think they'd be more interesting if they took some notes from what Mattel is doing with their Origins line... retro but with modern articulation.
Pretty sure that they’re designed to stay in the package and look nice rather than to be opened and handled.
They’re seemingly too pricey for what they are. S7 gets by, by making similar product at higher prices because it’s known they use smaller production runs hence the higher cost, their owner is pretty open about it. These Hasbro retro 3.75 Legends are mass market so it seems like the $10 price is partly from Disney tax. Who knows. I think I’ve seen some retro collectors on IG mix them into their display with old Secret Wars and playsets.
I mean, I guess that could work, but I think I'd be more interested if they copied the pre-posed stance of every Secret Wars figure and weren't all standing at attention like the S7 stuff.
Maybe as part of a two-pack with Logan? They don't seem to do civilians on their own too often. Though it's been more common recently with Moira MacTaggert, JJ Jameson and Gwen Stacey so I suppose anything is really possible in Legends nowadays.
A 2 pack would be fine, though I'd also be down for a Wolverine wave. give us Albert, Cyber, Da'ken, Gorgon, Cylla, Mariko, Yukio, not to mention any reavers they want to knock out. Maybe someone like Bone Crusher could be the BaF.
Except those are all characters that have a signature look from blonde bangs to lab coats to ties and mustaches. Mariko never really had one in my opinion.
Considering they brought her back recently as Scarlet Samurai (not sure if that's still a thing though), I've been anticipating a Mariko via that route. I suppose a civilian Mariko is possible too, but I'd be a bit surprised.
I always thought her signature look was generic kimono personally. I seem to recall her wearing a blue one though I haven't read those old issues of X-Men in years. I honestly wasn't aware of this, but it is Marvel so I shouldn't be shocked.
