With regards to the character heights sometimes a promotional image may change things for purposes of the composition. Here's a famous example from the start of a thriving franchise.

This new, wide Soundwave head has left me with an idea. Hear me out.

Since Soundwave, besides being a top tier TF in every iteration, also has consistently great head designs, Hasbro should release a commander class Soundwave with just Buzzsaw and around 10 alternate heads.

Maybe throw in Enemy, if we're being generous. Seems fair and reasonable to me.

Ok, I realize this has been an issue for a long time, but why do people care what color Frenzy and Rumble are?

Many of us had the original toys at release. I still have a red cassette dude and his packaging says Rumble, therefore I was slightly annoyed as a kid that TV media had the colors reversed and my little brother's blue cassette dude was getting all the screen time.

I think I've mellowed a bit over the years and can take the frequent red/blue joking as jokes. That said, I also know that featuring a red Rumble would be unexpected much like fans assumed the silhouette on the Autobot cover would be Bumblebee. Everyone is sure that will be a blue Rumble just like many were sure Bumblebee was about to be revealed. Hasbro appears to shift back and forth on the color choices, so a new comic universe that starts off with the toy coloring would be a pleasant change of pace.

I'm far more concerned that the comic stories are good. There are quite a few newer characters that I've grown to enjoy. If the story is good and the art is convincing, then that is far more important than which characters are being used.

Oooh, I dig Soundwave's head design.

Hoping that's Buzzsaw on his shoulder, just for something different.

People complaining about getting more G1 are ridiculous. "Transformers are stuck in the 80's". Is Superman stuck in the 30s? Batman in the 40s? Spider-Man in the 60s? When something works, you don't change it just to change it. Of course they've tried over the years, and what always happens? The design that people know and love is what bubbles up. What is it that makes Transformers so special that it MUST change? I'll tell you what...nothing! If you want a different look, make a different character! There's a whole planet of them!

I predict that this miniseries will be a hit with the 30-60 male demographic but fail to bring in new fans to the extent IDW did.

I WISH Transformers was stuck in the 80s, the eighties were awesome.

That kinda sucks, I guess they'll just have to read the billions of other comics out there specifically catered towards them, then.

you're mad at the idea of a comic being.... welcoming to new readers? a good jumping-on point to people unfamiliar with a franchise?

Oh no, not at all. That's definitely not how I meant for that to come off. D:

Ideally I WANT for the comic to do just that, I just don't think it's exactly the end of the world if it doesn't do that. It'll just have a more limited appeal, but I assume they ARE going to do what they can to make it both approachable / welcoming to new readers while also being something fans of the IP will want to check out.

There's nothing on its own wrong with something that isn't easy for newcomers to get into, it just means its appeal will be limited.

Historically, to the people that were alive during the 80s and weren't dumb sugar addicted dipshit children, they were not.
    Quite famously.

FIRRIB fans keep winning. Seeing a version of Frenzy/Rumble/whatever with separate eyes as opposed to a visor is a bit strange, though.

Sal from ComicPop! interviews Daniel Warren Johnson about the upcoming Transformers comic, trying to collect back issues of the Marvel run in the mid-90's and DDubs' experiences of how the online community has responded to the daily character reveals.

Daniel Warren Johnson confirms that he is working on a six issue run of Transformers.

EDIT: Added more details pulled from the interview.

    - We can expect a few nods towards the G.I. Joe segment of the shared universe. "Nothing too intense."

    - Probably no Void Rivals content in the Transformers comic, "but it's still early days."
"Things change every day, it's up and down as far as what's included and what's not."

    - Skywarp is Daniel Warren Johnson's favourite Decepticon. "He's kind of a dummy, like, a lovable dummy."
Optimus Prime is his favourite Autobot.

    - "The animated movie from '86, I'm kind of using as my visual bible."
Elaborates on how much he prefers the Optimus Prime head design used in the animation from the movie, as opposed to the models used for the show.
