I hope Image is smart and hires some of the old IDW creatives

It'd be pretty cool if they could really make these two work as a shared universe, but at the end of the day I just want good Transformers and good G.I. Joe comics. And maybe some more new standout characters to get toys.

I'm wondering if they will retain some of the IDW artists and writers in the long run.

Yeah, he juggled a large cast pretty well in them. I could see this working out.

    I'm optimistic.

I realize it\'s not a popular opinion, but I think Kirkman is garbage and that means I will be avoiding this relaunch. Ah well.

Void Rivals looks like a new IP... so integrating Transformers with something presumably creator-owned (since that's Kirkman's whole thing) is super interesting. Hopefully we don't have a Marvel situation 10 years from now where none of this stuff can be reprinted.

The Image Universe treated each creator's comics as a separate universe, with crossovers being events that occurred simultaneously in all the respective universes involved. If they stick with this approach, they wouldn't really have to respect the events of each other but could still crossover from time to time.

Well, there goes my submission to Hasbro for an idea for a Legacy comic.

    Fanfic it is!

Not a huge fan of a permanent GIJoe/Transformers crossover. GIJoe has to be a little more grounded to work as it does, even if it is sci-fi. And they will never be able to square a toyline in scale.

As I said in another thread, I hope this brings enough NEW to the franchise, something that was severely lacking in IDW2.0 (and even a bit before).

Kirkman is definitely a solid writer and I hope he's preparing a good creative team along with a precise direction for the following line.

    Cautiously optimistic!

IDW had one of my favourite runs especially with Lost Light under Roberts, hope we get some great, iconic storytelling.

That was specifically with the founders books. Since each Image title is creator owned they can handle things however they want.

For example Kirkman has already ran a shared universe with his Image superhero titles that included Invincible, Brit, The Astonishing Wolf Man, The Guardians of the Globe, and probably other titles I don't know about. But they all existed together in a Marvel/DC universe style.
