Excuse me “declining Japanese toy market”? This is some kind of joke right? The amount of collectibles and toys coming out of japan right now is greater than it’s ever been!

i find it curious that these lambos aren't pictured with mp-10 on the back of the box. maybe these are no longer meant to be "compatible" with mp-10...that a new version is possibly in the works sooner rather than later. or it could just be that these 2 were meant to be paired together as they are pictured with each other on each box. it would drum up more interest in the mp-12+ version...

....friggin throw us a bone and announce something takara!!!

I honestly think it's the latter (hyping the connection between MP12+ and MP39). Especially since the recently released megatron was paired with MP10 on the box.

Yeah, really makes me wonder… what exactly did @TCracker know back then? :)

And more importantly, does he have anything to share now? ;)

Even if I have, I had chose not to. There are just too many of those asshats waiting to pounce on me. The moment things don't pan out, they come in full force.
I have other things to worry about than to waste my time reasoning with these type of people.

I wish they had done that with the original G1 releases. The Decepticons were outnumbered two to one in 1984.

Would it be crazy to think that blaster will be packed with all 4 tapes, and that we could see a potential MP-13+ around that time, packed with all 5 of his?

Sorry if people don't appreciate what you bring to the forums. You're one of the better contributors like @Maz and @TigerBlade

Hope you don't let people discourage you and Happy New Year from Tokyo (I think you're in Japan, too)

As off as that looks it doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. There's definitely a way TT could have made it work by losing some of the roof and perhaps still using faux side windows.

I've come around to the faux chest on Sunstreaker but something still feels wrong. When he's lined up with other figures it's more obvious that unlike the obvious car parts on the Datsun's, Wheeljack, Sideswipe, Tracks and the vanettes (basically all the other carbots) that the size of windscreen on Sunstreaker's chest is 'off'. I couldn't forgive Sunsurge for that and I'm having trouble forgiving Sunstreaker for it despite his awesomeness overall.

    First world problems eh.

Loving the lists by the way. If, as someone hoped for, we ended up with Blaster, Hoist or Trailbreaker and Hound next year I'd be happy as a pig in shit. :)

See, everyone seems to assume that the toy colours were swapped around - but why?

Seems like the more obvious mistake would be "Sideswipe will be red, Sunstreaker will be yellow (like the sun). Oh shit, both Lamborghinis actually came in yellow and red, who's supposed to be who?". When he was writing them Budiansky was obviously looking at a red Countach for Sideswipe, and a yellow New Countach for Sunstreaker.
Rather than actually borrow to read his bios and figure out who should be which colour, whoever was in charge of the final colouring decisions just said "ok this yellow one is Sunstreaker, this red one is Sideswipe".

This is why I want a collection of MP-31, MP-18B, MP-12T and a Red Sunstreaker - how these characters almost looked.

I wrote about this whole mixup some time ago in my Who Is Tigertrack article and MB Sunswipe article, I even have TF merchandise with a yellow Sideswipe car and a red Sunstreaker car alongside a yellow Sunstreaker robot and Red Sideswipe robot, they are so cool.

But at TFN last year I saw Bob Budiansky's notes about what characters were originally supposed to be called, and sure enough he had 'Sunstreaker = Spinout" which disappointed me as I had done all this digging and writing to link the name Spinout to the SIDESWIPE mould, albeit in yellow...what we now refer to as Tigertrack.

However, at that stage of proceedings when Bob had those notes, around November 1983, there's still every possibility that the "Spinout/Sunstreaker" was still planned as a yellow Sideswipe. After all, the legal Hasbro/Takara documentation that was released some years back shows that originally the red Sunstreaker and yellow Sideswipe were what were intended for TF use.

    All the best
    Maz
