Not sure how that's relevant when the topic is super girl.

Internet. But also everyone has been burnt by WB already. I like Gunn, but I think the odds he gets to actually do all of this is pretty low.

Yeah this. We haven’t ever had a live action take on the whole Bat-family and if you’re skipping to Damien then it would make sense to work all that in. Other than that, Damien as Robin is a thing I am not very excited for.

Yea, Dick has been Nightwing for almost 40 years at this point, it's kinda disappointing that his only live action appearance as Nightwing has been in the Titans tv show.

I'll be perfectly honest, I didn't read his Supergirl story, but his batman run was such utter shite, I have no faith in him making anything good. King is a bad writer when given any control. Aside from the usual shtick he gives his favorites ridiculous plot armor / power levels.

Poison Ivy can control everything on earth, including Superman and Wonder Woman.

Maybe Supergirl was fine because he had a babysitter, or the limited run kept him from going full Tom King, but he should be kept far away from Batman at the very least.

    Basically Tom King Batman

Also for Green Lantern Fans, he made Guy Gardner into and abusive boyfriend and had Ice freeze and kill him. (Thankfully that story was out of continuity or hardcore Green Lantern fans would be hunting him down at cons to beat him up)[Not to mention JLI fans]

Yeah, I'm really trying to be optimistic and give Gunn the benefit of the doubt here, but frankly Tom King is the last writer they need to be taking any inspiration from.

    Yeah...

Its really hard to ignore the gut feelings I get when I read his commentary, all he needs to do is make a good Superman story in the vain of his All-Star storyline but I really get the sneaking suspicion that much like Batman has been deconstructed to death, he wants to do the same with Superman when he DOESNT NEED IT.

Also yeah Tom King's work shouldn't even be on the table, there's way better sources to pick from. This is the same shit the MCU pulls: you have literally 80+ years of great stories to pick from, why are you pulling from the garbage modern era stuff and throwing in characters that aren't selling.

Typically they are friends with someone, or someone like Feige has decided they need to promote this character because it check's off some box or so on. Basically stupid reasons besides just picking a good story and making a movie about it. I can think of a lot of classic style stories of Batman and Superman I'd love to see on the big screen. Most of the stuff from the last 5 to 10 years isn't on that list. There is a reason Manga has been out selling comics lately. The heart just isn't there like it used to be. Many current writers can't stay past 6 to 12 issues and most of the time they are inserting themselves or promoting their own characters during that run so they can get residuals later. They are there for a paycheck or as a stepping stone for TV and movies, they don't want to write this stupid kiddy comic stuff.

Anyone else a little concerned by the description of Damien as Batman's "actual son?" I get the intention, he is literally Batman's biological son. I could definitely be reading into things a bit too much, but Dick and the others, though not biological, are just as much Batman's family, and the wording I'm seeing feels a little dismissive of that fact.

    Am I off base here?

I think that's just there for those unfamiliar with Damien and his relation with Batman, as when you think of Robin, Dick Greyson is the first one that cames to mind and he's the Robin most of the general audience knows

James Gunn Clarifies What The Flash Movie Reset Means For The DCU (screenrant.com)

So not a full reboot. Shazan actor says he is staying. Gunn more or less said gal is staying as wonder woman. Suicide squad still here with its history. Aquaman 2 takes place post "reboot". So, in other words Batman and superman are rebooted everything else is the same.

So much for the "reboot." Maybe starting a new thread was pointless when only two hero ips are changed with everything else still the same.

That's not going to confuse anyone.

So definitely repeating the mistakes of the New 52 with it only being a half reboot

Pretty much saw this coming once it became clear that he was keeping around anything he'd worked on before the "reboot". Now my cautious optimism is is starting to move towards doubt.

Understandable, that and some of the writers he has announced working with him have me less excited.

I'm starting to think James Gunn's ego is eating itself inside out.

This article lists all the stuff that's coming in quite the detail. Seems like all this is still rather far away in 2025 though. Hope DC can muddle through until then.
DC Studios Announces Slate Of 10 New Film, Television Projects

The Authority is a strange idea to bring to the big screen. I mean I know about them, sort of, but I'd wager most of the general public wouldn't and not even hardcore DC fans would know Wildstorm characters.

Waller – starring Viola Davis, this series features Team Peacemaker and will be written by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Supernatural)
Oh joy. I think nobody who wrote that boring pointless slog of a show should be given a big budget again. (I meant Watchmen).

I disliked him first, before it was cool. ;)
Frankly the only thing he has done I was OK with was Guardians of the Galaxy 2. It completely reimagined Ego and Yondu compared to the comics, yes, but the crux of the story was nice.
