I don't have the link or source but apparently Lockdown is going to be what Bane was to Batman in the upcoming Transformers flick. I'm unsure how many people enjoyed Nolan's portrayal of the Batman series but to me they were all great, but that's a whole other other subject. Now with Transformers I'm curious just how it will compare with the battles and struggles that Optimus will have to go through to take this mercenary/"bounty-hunter" out. I enjoyed watching Batman getting his ass beat to the ground by Bane, that was classic. It really showed how driven Bane was to take out this petty man in a bat suit. We've seen Optimus also being beat to the ground multiple times so in AOE, so I'm sure Michael Bay will turn up the violence up a notch. So far Lockdown has all the qualities of an antagonist that has great potential in taking down Optimus.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lockdown's character is not much more fleshed out than that TF3 character you have in your sig pic.
I would. We've seen a lot of Lockdown in the trailers, and if Lamborghini's paying to have their car in the movie, we'd better be seeing a lot of it-plus, his ship seems to fuck up a lot of Shang-Cago (I think it's meant to be Shanghai, but it looks a lot like Chicago, but Chicago would also realistically still be fucked up bad so it's confusing to say the least). I'd imagine he's in the movie quite a bit. To O.P, I really DON'T wanna see him portrayed like Bane. Don't get me wrong, I love Bane, but I'd enjoy it a lot more if Lockdown was just a straight shooter-more of a slick, smooth-talking businessman type. His face just screams "Intimidating But Also Charming" to me. He seems to be a bounty hunter with a huge emphasis on the "Hunter" aspect, though, so it's likely we won't see that. Still, he's being hyped like crazy, and that's gotta mean something.
We'll see how much development he actually gets. I would LOVE for him to be like Bane....especially the intelligent, cunning part. I hope he gets a ton of screen time and we only get a few hints about who he's working for.
i agree.. i would be surprised if lockdown ended up like shockwave.. in fact, i can almost guarantee that he won't be. his ship is crucial or holds crucial secrets to this next set of movies (according to bay). shockwave definitely wasn't the key to dotm.. he had his driller, but he and his driller didn't really have an agenda besides destroying stuff and .. well, i honestly don't even know why the driller and shockwave attempted to obtain that engine part. i have to disagree with the "intimidating but also charming" aspect of lockdown. in my opinion, i don't think he looks charming at all.. he looks cold and calculating. from what we've seen, he walks with purpose, and his posture, which is intimidating, makes him look like he's simply focused on his objective. or hell, for all we know, he could be a simple robot just doing what he's told. he could just be a hired brutish thug.. i REALLY hope he's not, i really hope he's intelligent and calm. i can't wait to find out.
So lockdown will beat prime very badly and the prime take time to heal up and he comes back with Grimlock and beats the crap out of him.
Ha, yeah but this time I doubt there will be another Decepticon fail. Perfect. In simple terms, well yes unfortunately that may be Lockdown's fate.
I feel like even his face may not even live to see the end of AOE. I hope he doesn't go out as wimpily as Bane did though.
Bane? Perhaps... if Lockdown is meant to be a lieutenant of some sort. But it appears he will keep his role as bounty hunter.
Sadly I thought Bane let things down for the Nolan movies... I wanted him to be more muscly as shown in Tom Hardy's warrior appearance - however he ended up looking either frail or weak. I know it was for the twist but it didn't help when his main fight with Batman was him fighting an old, weak and out-of-shape Bruce Wayne. They went with more of a Bronson look rather than a Warrior look, but that's a personal opinion anyway... As for Lockdown every character has potential to be the exact opposite of our lead hero - the only question is how they plan on besting them. If it comes down just to who is a better fighter then it can (And will) get stale after a while. What we need in terms of the Transformers villains is a villain who uses other aspects in his battles - have a villain that relies on speed? another that uses his alt-mode more in battle? etc... Just basic things to help make the fights more engaging than one robot walling on another in hand-to-hand combat. I know they've tried to do this; - Megatron using his weapon during battle and a fight on his alt-mode - The Fallen using his teleporting to weaken Optimus before the fight - Sentinel using his alt-mode to move the location of the battle and removing Optimus's arm But with Lockdown they need to do something different, he is essentially the Joker of the Transformers universe in his attempts to make quips and use tricks or traps against his enemies. One of the reasons I enjoyed his animated portrayal was because he would often cut into scenery to create oil spills or use his different weapons in battle. He is a bounty hunter after all - put him in a position where the final battle occurs in his trophy room with him using all the different weapons he's collected over the years. This is more me thinking of ways to make him memorable and bad-ass - so most of its just my opinion on him. Considering he is a bounty hunter I get the feeling they'll kill him off and replace him with another or his boss for the next film...
If lockdown transforms his face into a gun does it mean optimus cannot take his face and therefore not kill him?
"Who sent you here?" "It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan. Nobody cared who I was until I put on the gunface"
