I was in a car accident yesterday on my way home from work. Some jackass in a pickup truck slammed into me at full speed while I was stopped in traffic on the freeway. I've got a few cuts and bruises, and some burnt hair, but check out what it did to my car! 99 Civic, R.I.P. - a set on Flickr
I got hit by a car back in 2002.I tried jumping out of the way at the last second when I realized that the guy was going to hit me,but I ended up getting caught in between his car and my truck.I ended up laying in the middle of the road with my legs busted up pretty bad.So the guy stops,looks back at me yelling for help,then proceeds to drive away.The police got there a short time later and I gave a description of the car to them and they got him within 15 minutes.I now have plates and screws permanently in my ankle,but it could have been much worse.
Closest thing to one was a drunk guy bumping into my uncles car. Everyone was safe but dayum, that guy was drunk.
I'm not really sure since I was unconscious at the time, but I assume that something in the engine blew up once I was pushed into the car in front of me. I was later told that the flames started instantly. The police still aren't sure who dragged me out of the car, but I need to find him and thank him for saving my life.
I got hit my a drunk driver on Xmas day 2006. He lost control of his car in bad weather and spun into me. I hit the rear of his car so the coroner tried to say I rear-ended him. I only ended up with some bruises from the seatbelt, one on my knee, and a displaced bone in my hand. I did black out for a moment after I hit the airbag, I remember coming to and not being able to breathe. Someone was running to our car asking if we we're okay and telling me to get out, it seemed as if they were running from miles down the road. My sisterended up with a dislocated hip and knee, and my nephew had some scrapes and bruises. The driver of the other car died, being drunk and not wearing his seatbelt and his passenger had some scrapes but was okay. The passenger later tried to sue me for pain and suffering after already suing her insurance (it was her mother's car). Her insurance actually worked with my insurance to get the suit dropped. Edit: My wife's car that I was driving. The car that spun into me.
Was driving at a salt flat doing some rolling photos of a friends car. I was in the passenger seat while he drove my car and I was taking the shots out the passenger window. His brother was driving his car. After I took the shots his brother started heading back and cut across us. We got caught in a ton of the dust trail he picked up and were driving blind. Out of the dust we saw a small mound and he threw the emergency brake and slammed on my brakes. But we still went over it going about 20mph. The initial impact was not bad but landing at angle nose first kinda tossed me around. This was one of those could have easily been much worse but thankfully we hit it straight on. Also his quick response to seeing the mound saved us as well.
One night I woke up to excruciating pain in my chest and I had a hard time breathing.I was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with blood clots in both of my lungs.They said that I was lucky to be alive.That was the scariest thing that I've ever been through,not to mention the most pain that I've ever been in.It felt like someone was sticking a knife into my chest.
Using the front brake is what you are supposed to do. Slamming on the lever is not, unless you shift your weight backwards.
Walking from the parking lot to a mall at night and a car almost ran over me about 3 years ago. The car wasn't even going slow either, it was driving at highway speed.

I have been lucky (knocks on wood)....i was shot close range (thisclose) with a shotgun bb gun when i 13, right behind my left ear, never went to the hospital. But i actually save the guy who shot me life, becuz my friend was gonna kill him with a butcher knife.....20 years later i get a cat scan and the bb is still lodge in head....
Some guy in a pick up truck was speeding through a red light and slammed into the back of our Mini Cooper. The car was spinning like hell, and I was scared like shit. I only hit ny head against the window and had a bruise. That was all, but all our food shopping was ruined!
Looking at how mangled the rear of the Civic is... Gas tank in rear of the car... do the math. Glad you're alright man and you should definitely try to find the person who dragged you out of the car to thank them. Hopefully it was the person who hit you because they'll need a little bit of good karma after wrecking your day.
I've had quite a few close calls working on and near the roadway. My worst experience was working along a country road and having to dive away from equipment we had set up 6 ft from the road to keep from getting run over by a mid 80's Buick driven by a woman in her mid 90's.
