Just like the title reads. There is a poll option for the TRU version and the Takara Version of MP Rodimus.

Let's find out which version of Rodimus that the fanbase likes better.

I'm going to say FP Protector...MP Rodimus is just a hot mess of bad design/transformation and a fugly John Kerry-esque face.

I prefer the deco on the TRU MP Rodimus, but the Takara one wins purely because it's inclusion of a trailer.

This is awfully biased and has no bearing on what I think of the figure, but I'm going with FP Protector for the sole fact that I don't specifically collect the Masterpiece line.

For accuracy either Masterpiece editions are the way to go. Sadly I've no Masterpiece collection... so he'd stick out quite a bit amongst the crowd... and since I've little love for the character, I don't mind that I haven't found an MP Rodimus.

The FP Protector more or less fits into a mixed CHUG group... provided you don't mind that his Prime mode is a non-cannon power up suit. (Oh, and you find a much better head for him.) It's a cool set concept-wise... but Fansproject's aesthetic isn't for everyone, that's for sure.

Not really all that comparable. Masterpiece Rodimus is well, Masterpiece, while Protector is more if you want a Classics version of him. I still like Protector+Henkei Rodimus more though. Only Masterpiece I like is Grimlock.

FP protector does not look anything like rodimus prime and that head needs a mother or something.

I can't afford the MP Roddy and the TRU Rodimus was a cheap, easily broken pile of crap(weak ankles on a Prime my ass) So by default Protector who isn't perfect but isn't bad either.

MP Rodimus. It's just not fair comparing a masterpiece to a non masterpiece figure though.

Also, I think I may like ehobby MP Rodimus more then the original..

MP-9 wins in every way possible. It's the toy that Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime has required since 1986. I love it beyound belief. On the other hand I HATE HATE HATE Protector. It barely resemble rodimus, and infact moves the base toy AWAY from looking like rodimus! Energon rodimus felt more like the character than it. Also, its based around a figure (classics roddy) that is in all respects terrible in bot mode.

The TRU version is ok, but soooo many details from the takara version are lost on the US release.

That's like asking to choose between Chocolate or Peanut Butter.

Two different styles for different generations.

I vote Animated Rodimus (specifically the japanese version). I really dislike the classics mold and that dislike carries over to protector; on the other hand while I love the way MP-9 looks (cartoon accuracy ftw) I still cant find the US version and the qc and design problems I've heard about make me worried about picking him up when I do see him.

Indeed it's a bit like asking what's your favorite chocolate, millk chocolate or chocolate milk.

On the one hand you have an offically designed product that is intended to be the most G1 accurate representation of Rodimus/Hot Rod released to date.

On the other hand you have an armor upgrade kit for an officially mass released figure whose alter ego (so to speak) was not the product of an armor upgrade unlike Ultra Magnus.

I like what FP did with the protector armor and it fills a nitch until Hasbro releases a classics Rodimus Prime, but the concept of an armor upgrade to transform Hotrod to Rodimus prime is a little too WTF for a lot of people.

I gotta say, I expected more love for Protector. I'm having sort of the same issue myself. I try not to represent the same character more than once, but can't decide if Roddy looks better next to Ultra Magnus (thus, Protector) or Optimus (Thus, Masterpiece).
