Read through everyone's responses and really enjoyed all the different and similar points of view. Well done and thanks to everyone for making this my favourite thread this week.
I hoped this would foster some interesting discussion. I'm also really pleased with all the diffetent perspectives people have provided, as well as the civility we've maintained.

Animated Optimus went up against odds that were leagues above him, and still prevailed. He was brave enough to confront Starscream who was much more powerful than him, knowing that he would die, with the intention of saving the Allspark, yet ended up dying. All of that in the pilot. One of the great things about the TFA Autobots is that they were the underdogs of the series. The Decepticons were MUCH larger and powerful than them, so it always felt satifsying when an Autobot confronted a Decepticon and took it down.
