It tells you right in the game no attack is unavoidable, just gotta practice!

is mercury steam part of nintendo now?

just wow what a ways they have come. not just a proper mainline metroid but one of the best in the franchise.

if this game had 2d sprite art it may have edged out super for me...

Made it to Raven Beak last night. Got destroyed in seconds. Decided to call it a night at that point. I should finish the game tonight.

They are a third party contractor, IIRC they are part owned by the same company as Avalanche.

Nintendo need to at least lock them down with a publishing agreement or something, they seem to have gotten a better grasp on the platform and the franchise they are working on then some first and second party teams have.

Hmm not liking this. I'm not a fan of overly hard games. Are there difficulty levels available?

Yes, and to me, its not really hard.

Granted I'm not done yet, but I think I've only had died to the bosses a few times a piece and not a long trek back to the boss. The EMMIs are hard, but they are ment to be avoided and not fought until certain things happen.

    There are not.

This game has overly hard parts. It's not quite to the Dark Souls level - Souls fights are about as fun as a slip in the bathtub - but there are absolutely bosses (numerous ones) that you'll throw yourself at endlessly until you get a pattern down. The EMMIs start out as horror and end up as a nerve-racking annoyance. But at no point do you ever not "dread" going inside their zones.

I just fought a really infuriating beetle this afternoon and I'm still a bit tilted about it.

What kind of masochist are you that Kraid wasn't hard?

it's not hard, but it requires you to properly learn patterns.

the boss fights are very much in line with megaman games...maybe more the megaman zero games where you must properly learn the patterns or you will die.
thankfully continue screens pick up right before the fights so you can learn at your own pace. but they do require patience, timing, and pattern recognition...more than really any other metroid game.

actually makes it one of my favorites in the series because no other metroid game operates the boss fights quite like that. it requires you to spend time and learn or give up and look up on the internet how to do it. that level of puzzle solving has always been fun for me.

So this means Sakamoto is properly rehabilitated in the eyes of the fans now, right?

Honestly the only boss fight I had a real hard time with was the last one, not that the others were hard but usually in two to three tries i got it. That last one though, old school at its best 3 levels and gotta learn slow.

This game is NOT hard, at least on normal, not gonna do a hard run till the controls become a little more second nature to my standards, but those worried about diffculty it is challenging yes, but it isnt the end of the world. Think of it as actually getting game length extended by playing instead of padding the game out for hours by walking or something.

But that is just my thoughts, to me this is probably what other games say is "old-school" in homage this one is pretty much "oh its 2021? Cool, we're gonna party like its 1996 again."

My brother was saying you can apparently get the bombs before Kraid and use the ball blaster to shoot into his stomach and bomb the hell out of him.. Wicked!

Cant wait to see what other sequence breaking there is in this game!

I hope Nintendo doesn’t patch the game to prevent the sequence breaks.

Considering that would have had to been intentional.. I doubt it will be.

Seriously... they didn't -just- make the mistake of having a bomb tube in the tube pointed right at the hole, and accidently set it for the bombs to kill him while she is in there.

    Here's how to do it.

Speedrunners don't do it. It's slow. This is more of a neat easter egg. Later in the game when you get more upgrades, you can come back to Kraid's room, and bomb the wall to see it for yourself. On Youtube, TheSeventhForce has been uploading sequence break videos.

Speaking of speedruns, the current Any% record is 1:34:30 by Samura1man. I've been watching him and Oatsngoats do attempts on Twitch. I'd like to see how much lower it can go.

I watched a speed run. Some of the strategies include glitches.
