Who knows, I don't think it's the case but maybe I am confusing Snake Mountain with the random prices of Grayskull. But that doesn't seem right. I know Snake Mountain has been less than $300. Elsewhere: Which does make all that woe over Mickey even more hyperbolic in hindsight.
MC Castle Grayskull is $154 at Amazon right now, the best price in AGES https://www.amazon.com/Mega-Constru...&pd_rd_i=B07HKV9339&psc=1&tag=transformers-20
Got the Havoc Staff from Amazon with the Cyber Monday deal. Planning to use all those purple pieces to embiggen Snake Mountain a bit.
Giant metal wolf: "your ice axe will not work on me!" Kratos: "THEN I'LL USE THIS!!!!" Kratos: "RAARRGGHHH!!!!"
Having defeated the Colossus of Rhodes in a previous battle, Kratos expected little challenge from this mechanical beast. Still, there was certainly more than meets the eye to this new metal foe.
Browsing my want list and saw Snake Mountain for $250 and got hype! but it's a "Used Acceptable" set which means missing pieces lol.
I really would like to own a set of these ridiculous things but the price and twenty bucks in shipping hold the desire to purchase them back. There's also something interesting in the fact that the Faker is the best looking one in the lot.
You could always pick up a silicone mold starter kit at Hobby Lobby and cast these yourself... Might be a way to make some awesome customs, too.
I started this post many hours ago... Just the novelty of them being all ugly and jacked up. If they were down in the five buck range for the set, I wouldn't mind buying them. But they are listed at $25 and carry a $20 shipping fee. So that's the best reason I have for not buying them. I have considered buying an injection molding machine. I have seen videos of folks using those with some sucess. The Mega design formula is pretty basic when you break it down. Shouldn't be too hard to get dies made of the various parts. I feel I am about three years and one suitably sized work shop out from that goal. Fortunately, I also feel the TF collecting is going to rapidly calm down over this next year for me. If I can complete the gaps in my roster over the next year, I may be done aside from the random new character that may happen. At which point, I may get back into the custom stuff more.
On the molding front... For small plastic pieces, a silicon mold and some colored resin is pretty simple. 3D printing is another option - although there's probably a steep learning curve to the software. Injection molding is expensive and, as you mentioned, requires a workshop's worth of space. That would be one hell of an investment in time and trouble. This is one of multiple videos I've been watching to see how to cast pieces using a silicone mold: See what you think.

I think I'm gonna need a couple of those Mongoose sets (Mongooses? Mongeese?) for my TMNT display. I'll be curious to see how the green compares.
