Well, the MOTU guys aren't shortpacked or anything. Ironically, the shortpack is Mulder, and he's the only one from the wave that Amazon hasn't cancelled on me yet.

While I'd like a single-carded stratos, I'm confident we'll get multiple re-releases and slightly different decos out the wazoo. Just think how many times they've issued the first five figures so far. Slightly different Stratos and Scareglow figures were shown at SDCC, so I can be patient if I don't want to order a case. That being said, if they pull this crap with Mer-Man or Triclops, I'll break out my pitchfork, but not for a gimmicky Scareglow.

However, I think I'd order a case before I paid $22 for a single. That hurts.

If I break down and order a case, I'll sell you all my grey aliens.

Considering it seems to be a wide issue of cancelled pre-orders and not just a few people here and there (I mean, extrapolating that most of the people pre-ordering that happen to post on forums are getting their stuff cancelled, so it's likely a lot more), I can't even call it a mere shortage. Mattel must be coming up hundreds of orders short if not almost entirely failing to deliver any of said items (save a select few that squeek by).

It seems they are so strapped for cash, they cannot afford to overproduce as the big retailers are forcing the costs back to them (with all the power to negotiate). And that's perhaps why only smaller stores like Dollar General are getting any items. So Mattel is taking a very slow testing of the waters approach towards releasing stuff, even ignoring pre-orders as they don't represent longer term demand.

Just a wild guess though. It certainly doesn't explain the Marauder Mexico fiasco. That just seems like wild blatant incompetence. And one has to think the development costs just to keep making new sets (and plenty of new pieces) isn't trivial, so even this slow release approach seems to be short sighted and myopic.

Granted, a company with so much franchise and IP power squandering it and running their business into the ground can't really be said to be run well. So maybe it is all to be expected. Sad though, if even the second (third?) largest toy company can't find the right people to run it, what does that say of the system in general?

Once again, Mattel needs to have Mega setup the own store page.
I'd much prefer ordering straight from them than from Amazon.

It's like Mattel is telling Mega "just because our head is so far up our ass an army of proctologists couldn't find it, YOURS has to be too." :(

Sorry, fellas, I'm not a fan of most of the MCX portfolio's subjects, but I have to appreciate solid engineering. Wish they'd do more with ProBuilder, and bring back Command Ops and Alien Agency, or better yet repurpose the AA figures and get an official MIB license... and do more historical stuff like the Train Robbery.

Dollar General stores may be small, but the company is pretty damn big. Have you noticed how many places they have around? They've pretty much run out most remaining independent neighborhood stores (often building new stores next to existing places) to corner those small markets, pushing into towns too small for a Walmart.

And yes, Mattel is the #3 toy maker, behind #1 Lego and #2 Hasbro.

So an acquaintance on Twitter had Entertainment Earth cancel their "Ultimate Figurine Pack".
    20190910_224023.jpg

Now while on the face of it, this may not be a big deal to most (seeing as how these are probably going to be the Yootz line replacement Wonder Builders), it begs the question why EE would cancel a preorder on something that's not scheduled for another 2-3 months at least, 6-8 months at most. EE's listing indicates "sold out" now.

Now is it legitimately backordered? Or did they just cancel all orders and list as sold out because Mega's not planning on releasing it?

Again, sounds like good news on the face of it. But along with the Amazon cancels, perhaps this shows bigger problems forecasted finally popping their ivory tower bubble.

My kroger has several MCX items at 50% off, but not the CoD sets, just the Halo Mongoose and Drop-pods. I did pick up a few of the generic camo block sets on the cheap, but the rest didn't do much for me.

I remember when Mega cancelled their Generator Rex sets prior to being acquired by Mattel.

So about the rumoured Office sets.
Yeah, I dunno if that's going to happen because I just saw an Office block-built playset of the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton Office with some Kubrick-esque minifigures at Target back in the NECA section.
This one is made by a company called PhatMojo.

I'd be surprised if two companies have block-built Office licenses simultaneously.

    I bought the medics.

You'd think that figure would come with more sets.

Yeah those medics were a dream come true for a member who's name I can't recall from the former spartanbloks site.

When they were cheap and available, I bought two of that Elephant version but having an opportunity to buy just the medic [and eight of them as a set, no less] is very much welcomed by me as well.
