Well it would make way too much sense that why.
The SDCC MOTU stuff is priced well, so I am betting they produced quite a few to meet profit margins and these hopefully will be easy for non attendees to obtain after the show ends.
Wow, they don't even get it at the show that sucks.
I'd buy that logic if his subtitle on the toy packaging wasn't "Evil robot imposter".
I know the real answer is "because it's a kid's toy from 1983 and doesn't have to make sense". But as an adult, I'm fascinated by the idea that Mattel saw absolutely no flaw in that plan.
Kevin threw up some in hand shots of the SDCC Battle Bones set.
As for why Mattel is doing it the way they are doing it, it's MATTEL does anything else really need to be said. It's also probably a scalper deterrent of some sort that wasn't really thought out too well. The only reason that makes sense is that they want your ass at SDCC.
But aren't the convention goers the ones scalping things in the first place. Now, they'll be the only ones who are doing it. This just grossly limits supply thus creating a false higher demand resulting in larger mark up on the secondary market.
If "scalp deterrent" is their claim, they are even more stupid.
As for wanting you at the show... why does Mattel care if you attend or not? They want your money, they'd get mine if I could have thos set delivered to my house without the necessary burden of flying to the show, hoping to get in and then standing in line to do paperwork.
Now, they'll get some scalper's money and he'll get considerably more of mine.
My Grayskull arrived yesterday. Stayed up way too late working on it with my nephew. Got somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 done (front center and front right turret). Should have it done sometime this weekend and I'll throw up some pics.
Anyone wanna sell the green Teela from the Greyskull set?
Just grabbed these on clearance from a local Walmart. They'll go well with krang I picked up several years back
Wow, impressed they still had them! Had to order Baxter online since I never found him in store. The only store near me that even carried that set was TRU. Walmarts around me suck sOoOoO bad!
Yeah that was literally all this Walmart had for mega stuff. Not even any of the Pokémon stuff
Any time I have seen the Pokemon stuff at a WalMart recently it has been with the rest of the Poke-products not the Mega stuff.
Not sure if that helps.
I picked up quite a few more Sesa Refumees today. Haven't much interest in the character but he's a unique troop builder.
Not a MotU fan (saw the series in the 80's, but it never really connected), but that's one very good looking castle. Just seeing it makes my imagination become active. Would love to build it and play with it.
Not going to get it, though, since I'd have to import it and that means I'm looking at a $ 400 price tag (shipping + import taxes).
I await a bit of pricecut, but eventually i'll get it. Too bad MC is hardly represented in Europe.
How long did the build take if you don’t mind me asking?
Well I bought a Battle Bones online, it's less than me paying for a plane ticket, lodging, convention passes, dining, and I don't have to go to California with the poop.
Where did you order it from. Might end up doing the same thing.
Yep, do tell please
