I'm not so sure. It was already planned to off Prime in #24, so they didn't know about the Matrix at that point. Which makes sense why they had to figure out how to write it back in and get Prime brought back to life. I wonder if the original draft of the movie script had Prime dying but no Matrix in it...
I wasnt alluding to what came first. Just that they are pretty much the same item. Umm, I think your memory is a bit off there. The creation Matrix was known and first mentioned as early as issue 6 of the marvel G1 comic. And I believe there was mention even earlier. What wasnt known is that it was an object in Primes chest and not a program.
I always figured that the matrix was a novelty disco ball that played Stan Bush when you opened it. Unicron died because he had good musical taste.
It's got a musical lock. Play the right tune and it opens. It's why it's kinda held like an accordian. Ultra Magnus: "Open, dammit! Open!" *polka music* Ultra Magnus: "Prime - you said the Matrix would light our darkest hour." Optimus Prime's Ghost: "You just have to know to play The Touch to get it to open." Hotrod: "Hey! I know that song!" Ultra Magnus: "I can't deal with this..." Yeah, I know. I'm just in a sorta silly clarifying mood today. Besides which I know you're into both the cartoon and the comics.
Ah yes I remember now... Its from when Prime's head transferred his "power" to Buster. I need to re-read the comics for sure. I've just been putting it off.
whos to say. We know it was never covered in the series. Maybe he knew, maybe he didnt. But he knew it was meant to be used against great evil.
If Prime never died, you think he would still be Leader? or he would still pass it on and became some sort of a mentor?
Yeah like having a new leader, but same time he remains as a veteran to lead and advice the new leader, like G.I.Joe did with Duke and Flint remained as high commanders when L.T Falcon was thew newest leader of command of the Joe's
