It’s yet to be rereleased IIRC so time will tell. High chance of the issues not repeating in later runs. However in recent years, I’m not so sure if we can count on rereleases(and I think this may be what’s factored into the higher MSRP by economies of scale). We’ve yet to see MP-44 rereleased as is(we’ve only seen MP-49 but that’s a repaint and counted as a separate character).
A gun based on the gun from the G1 Hound toy was shown when the color prototype of Hound was displayed at conventions so Takara is planning at least another reuse of the MP Hound mold with that gun. Who knows it it’ll have a darker G1 toy paint job(I would think so) or be repainted as Detritus.
I was having a little difficulty putting Arcee back in robot mode and I turned it around to discover it was pretty annoyed.
This is a completely accidental pose and it cracked me up when I saw it.
Meanwhile, in the Ruby Crystal mines of Burma...
Soundwave just stares blankly, knowing he’ll probably be the one who has to clean those crystals up…
Megatron: "Soundwave! Clean those crystals up!"
Soundwave: "Yes, Megatron"
He looks at the hundreds of crystals scattered across the floor...
"Rumble - eject. Operation: crystal clean up"
Peace through tyranny.....
One last piece to the jigsaw to go. Poetic that he was my first ever Transformer
My favorite thing about your display, out of all the awesomeness, is Autoscout .
Everytime I see that Chosen Prime banner, I get a little bit annoyed when I realize it isn't a new figure.
Of all the KOs and recolors, why no one made the Powered Convoy is disappointing.
Recently picked up MP-52. Enjoying him so far!
I scream! You scream! We all scream!
The other brother.
Good to see some MP-12+ love.
You forgot to turn around the sides of his lower legs though.
Just finishes setting up my display cases at my new place. Leaving a lot of my stuff in storage and going for a more minimalistic display now. Giving my MPs the space and attention they deserve. Fuck, these things are awesome!
My latest Masterpiece acquisition:
I've had him over a week, but just got round to transforming him to robot mode last night.
Lovely alt mode. A great looking van.
Robot mode is very nice also, but not perfect. Looks great from the front. Some gaps from the side and judging by the ridges on his shoulders, which I thought might slot into something, (they do in van mode,I believe,) I thought I might have mis-transformed him. I looked at pictures and no, I'm pretty sure I've done it right. There's also a big gap between the wheels on his lower back and his main back torso which looks like could use filling in. From side view It means he had quite a bulky upper body on a very thin waist.
Overall cleans up pretty well in robot mode. Pretty authentic to the original cartoon G1. A nice load of accessories.
Transformation is a bit fiddly in places yet not overly complex and very clever. That's a big robot to fold out if a small van! I'm not entirely sure how I pulled the front out when exposing the head as it didn't seem to want to go back when I tried to replicate the procedure, so I might consult a video when converting him back (something I probably won't do in a while anyway.)
I'm glad I got him. I don't think I'll get Ratchet as well, as I think Masterpiece prices (even ex-display like mine) are a bit much to pay twice for a mould where the thing isn't perfect, (who am I kidding. I might.) but I'm generally pleased with the purchase. He certainly isn't the only MP I have to have hollow places, and things that look odd from certain angles. I think all my car-bots do aside from Sunstreaker, and he has a massive backpack. As display pieces to show from the front, I can't really fault any of them in that regard.
Edit - looking at him again in the light of day, I think my review above may have been overly harsh (although it was meant to skew positive). He looks great!
With Skywarp on the way I'd better start looking for a bigger display cabinet
I finally got round to transforming my MP-11SW Skywarp. Not particularly complex, but actually seemed more fiddly than Starscream, who I have in the original mould. I’d have thought it would be the other way around since the older mould has extra external parts to plug into place that finalise the jet mode, but I remember finding the first’s conversion more comfortable.
While the early mould makes the superior looking jet, I am pretty happy with how MP-11SW turned out in alt mode. The sacrifices made to improve the robot mode don’t ruin the alt mode. It’s less finished than the earlier version around the sides and underneath, but it makes a fine looking F-15 jet. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly an improvement on the initial mould, aside from the feet (just introducing heels is a big deal for standing). Sure the original had more kibble, but arranged right* I think it looks fine. I guess I’m saying that I prefer the original mould, all considered, but it’s marginal and MP-11 is perfectly fine. If kibble is a big deal for you, I can understand why Mp-11 mould would be your preference.
Glad to have him, and I love the colour scheme.
As I’m largely sticking to one per mould with the MPs I doubt I’ll get Thundercracker, but seeing them like that they would look great together in V formation. Skywarp didn’t come with a stand, so hoping I can find one at some point.
*My preferred look for the side/tail-fin kibble isn’t jutting out backwards, which appears to be the official look, (like he doesn’t have enough trouble standing up) but down either side of his legs.

display is still a W.I.P since Cyclonus and Scourge are blocked but I finally have MP Hot Rod displayed with MP Rodimus! Also I’m only now realizing how morbid it is to have MP Ironhide with a shelf of 86 movie characters…
"This backpack is too big to run with, gotta transform!"
