Considering that issue #5 was my first exposure to Transformers fiction outside of the Tech-Specs, and his recurring role in the Marvel comics it’s surprising that I didn’t have any Shockwave at all until the Fall of Cybertron figure. Now I have nearly ten versions of him. And every single one gets this pose sooner or later.
Don’t look at me like that, you all do it too!
To be honest, I never did the #5 pose. I somehow feel left out.
I think this basic pose is one of my favourites for the figure:
The angles of his shoulders, ‘A’ stance, slight crotch thrust.
I know very little about Masterpiece, if I understand correctly, the new releases are more cartoon accurate?
That's right. It's a direction the line has been gravitating towards since the very beginning, but pretty much any release after MP-22/25/27 or thereabouts is considered to be as cartoon accurate as they're likely to get. Some earlier releases are getting '+' repaints that usually make them more cartoon accurate (MP-12+, 17+, 20+ and the upcoming 18+).
N.B. New releases that came out after MP-30 might get '+' releases which make them more toy accurate, like MP-36+.
Other earlier releases have simply gotten entirely new versions to make them more cartoon accurate, which is why MP-10 and MP-21 have been remade in the form of the upcoming MP-44 and MP-45. The same will almost definitely happen for MP-11 too (just look at the Starscream head that comes with MP-44 for how different a new Starscream will look).
It's pretty likely that Soundwave will also get either a new version or at the very least a toon-accurate '+' repaint at some point soon.
Some 2014 love. Can’t believe this guy is almost 5 years old!
They grow up so fast.
I’ve always been a fan of visor/mouth plate combos...
Heck, I’m happy with either/or as well!!
I had a dream last night that I saw pictures of MP Trailbreaker. It was a weird photo because it wasn’t the normal grey background used to showcase MPs. This was a cityscape and in it, it showed Trailbreaker’s arms as Scavenger’s arms in the Devastator form. Some weird stuff but I need an MP that makes force fields.
Look who I found for $50 at a local comic book shop:
Gonna be fun taking pictures of these two in the future:
^Same energy #2
Bluestreak= when Hasbro/Takara know that I’ll have to get Smokescreen in order to complete the trio
Prowl= me when I realize that I’m too broke to get Smokescreen:
I’ve never posed MP-29 and MP-29+ with the classic #5, but darn near every other shockwave I have that can strike a pose has, even my Kre-O battle Changer. Honestly not sure why I haven’t.
So more old school love - these were taken December 30, 2003 - over 15 years ago! Some MP-1 love:
With cardboard trailer:
Even though I am a huge chug collector I really love masterpiece mainly because there’s so many options for quite a lot of characters letting people build whatever collection they want
So that’s what the cardboard trailer looks like. I never but mine together.
What an awesome series of pics!
What do you guys say about Smokescreen? Is he cartoon accurate enough aside from the logos and is he different enough from Prowl and Bluestreal to warrant a purchase? Thoughts? Thinking of getting him as another deskbot. I know there might be a plus one the horizon, but it’s too early to know when still.
