I've been messing with my MP10 this weekend and MP Shockwave. Admittedly I've slowed down in collecting substantially and I got them at a time when I was still actively acquiring more toys on a more frequent basis.

So I've been dialing it back these past few years. Got to appreciate the stuff you've got some time. I hadn't handled MP10 very much after buying it.

So after a while of it being posed as reference for my drawings, I pulled it off display and transformed it back and forth this weekend. I'm still posing it now. This still has the touch. It's full of personality when posed. Transformation isn't very difficult. It has limitations due to the hip skirt but otherwise, it can be posed more dynamically than MP01 ever could due to a combination of ankle tilt, weighing less and range of motion for the swivel joints.

I was one of the fans wanting a Prime V3 because of how much more poseable MP36 Megatron V2 was compared to MP10. I still want MP44. It's the anime based Prime I've wanted for years and as Japanese toy companies have engaged in pairing full articulation with vintage anime accuracy, it was a natural craving to want an anime accurate Sunbow MP Prime.

However I don't see myself at the moment, replacing MP10 with MP44. MP44 will be my anime Prime and depending on what I'm feeling during the day, will have either the S1 face/helmet or movie face/helmet. MP10 however still has charm for being the of the hybrid styling that Hasui championed. MP10 has the wide chest and gorilla arms of the original G1 toy with some style influence from the cartoon(especially the face!).

I do worry about the rubber tires rotting over time or leeching plasticizer. Hopefully I'm wrong and the tires are made of sterner stuff.

Meanwhile Shockwave. Wow. I felt like the MP cars felt a little light. Then I got Shockwave. Shockwave felt like a return to form for how an MP should feel. That transformation is amazing. I was still blown away transforming it back and forth last night. It's innovative, more than meets the eyes...intuitive without feeling difficult. The way it's designed, it's hard to tell that it can even transform when looking at the gun mode.

Coming off of how recent Japanese collector toys have felt in recent years, it is VERY refreshing to hear all the ratchets on MP figures. I believe ratchets are a lost art, yet Takara still uses them and puts them to good use. Their competition ought to learn a thing or 2.

Re: MP10; I TOTALLY agree!! He's an incredible figure; and there's NO reason, at all, someone can't have both in their collection. My MP10 will go into my bedroom for admiration while 44 joins the battle within the case.

10's style is just that. STYLE!!! He's an amazing piece that captures the essence of everything that is Convoy. But 44.. he is the defining Optimus. THE Optimus walking right off of the TV screen. 10 is the super hero, 44 the cowboy that Peter Cullen has always said he based his interpretation of the character on.

Dashboard makes for a quick setup. Aside from the little smudge on the leg where the windshield tabs in, mine is perfect. Love this guy.

I’m a big fan of any excuse to buy another MP. A sharp Toon deco fits the bill nicely. :D  Kinda wish he came with Chip’s computer though. And Prowl’s magic Internet antennas. Missed opportunity.

This is likely the best Megatron that I’ll ever own, bar none. Happy to have both versions, but this one is the Ultimate Megatron for me. I just wish they ditched the extra Toon faces for more expressions on this face. If they do a Microchange version with blue and no insignias I’ll be there with bells on. I’ll take a Safety Megatron too. 1BF4140E-3D55-4BC4-88E4-64A63CC46233.jpeg

It would've been very cool to get a shouting toy face. Artfire got lucky that way, since a pair of Inferno's faces were based on the toy anyway.

Gonna make a special city-scape background on a separate shelf just to display MP-36+, MP-44+ and any other toy-accurate releases I pick up along the way:

Awersome shot! Great dynamic posing of the whole team, and I especially love the birdbots flying out above Soundwave’s shoulders. Makes me want to get mine out and skip work today. :D

Zero. Best hobby decision I've ever made. MPs are the Transformers I've wanted since 1984, even if I didn't know it then!

Oh boy that's gonna look incredible! I wish we had gotten that kind of VHS art in the States! (Or we did and I didn't know about it ;)  )

I always find it interesting how Transformers were presented in other countries. Can’t wait to see your display with this background using those slick shelves.

If you didn’t know about it, count me in as well. I still remember these though.

I'm just concerned about affordability. I just saw the new Prime on BBTS for over $400 lololol
