    After about 2000 transformations I think I've finally got the perfect one;

What an amazing figure and transformation, my favourite figure to date, outstanding figure, well done TT!

...diving headfirst into the deep-end myself, in about thirty minutes: enough action-figure play, time for a proper transformer!..

Also, don't be ashamed of the quality of your pictures. We're all here to share our individual artistic tastes of Masterpiece. We all have the same "toys" and can present them a hundred different ways. We have every grade of photographer here as well as members that are wizards with Photoshop or some other filtering program. Photos of all venues, indoor and outdoor, light boxes, work stations, home coffee tables and great carpet. You'll see it all. Even see some really great photographers apologizing for their work and strive to constantly improve.

I use an iPhone 4s for my pictures. Ancient technology by today's world but it works for me. AZA77 mentioned a lot of great tips for pushing yourself to the quality of pictures that you desire.

The most important thing here is to have fun and enjoy the hobby with us. You picked a great thread to get in.

Great shots! Do you mind me asking what kind of setup you are running? I'm really curious on your lighting setup. What about your post work? LR or PS, both?

Where do you get your backgrounds from? are they added in post?

Thank you for taking the time to post on here and respond.

    You're very welcome!

I shoot with a Sony A7rII. Probably the best camera I have. With a camera that responds well to light, you don't really need professional lights if you have photoshop or lightroom. This shot was basically regular room lights with a desk lamp.

My backgrounds are all real...they're at my studio. Real is always better than composited.

I use Lightroom to do the major coloring of the shots (about 94%) and then Photoshop to do the rest and add in little lighting fx here or there.

Here's a pic (from awhile back) that shows some more photoshop fx below. I lit this one with flashlights.

Aww yes I remember this picture. The lighting in here is everything. So your camera can basically see in the dark lol. That Sony A7RII is killer in low light and all around - what lens?

I just noticed your copyright in your photo. I guess this isn't too far out of your day job which explains a lot. Love the photos. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

    Much appreciated!

...ohmigosh, and i thought shockwave's collapsing legs were clever!..

...lots of trepidation flipping back his barrel and collapsing his pelvis; those plastic pieces to which said joints are anchored don't really feel sufficiently strong for the transformation stresses entailed, like they should have been cast steel instead...regardless, he makes a heck of a meaty pistol, albeit super-encrusted with panel joints...

...super-clever transformation, too, but for all the fuss and risk of damage, methinks my MP-11/13 pistols will see a lot more use now...

EDIT: ...why are his gun-mode sigil tampographs off-center?..

Also remember that pretty much any camera can see in the dark if the subject matter is still. You can set a long exposure and everything will show up awesome.

It's a thing of beauty, isn't it, it's so compact and doesn't seem it will interfere in his everyday life in anyway whatsoever!
