You know what these guys are missing? That's right Takara, their frickin leader!! Why Takara has taken so long and still not announced or released a new MP Megatron is beyond me.

I would have thought with the teasers for the 3rd party Apollyon (ie. no-Megatron) MP scaled figure, that this would have been the kick up the arse Takara needed. But still silence from them!!

I will just have to keep on waiting I guess.....

Have you ever considered that maybe there's a reason they're not doing Megs yet?

And Hastak literally don't care at all about 3rd parties. They pretty much ignore them outright.

 

I can see it, too, though it's hard to describe. It's kinda like when Jim Lee was drawing X-Men in the early '90's and he left, then Marvel got some guys to try to draw like Jim Lee. Close, but not quite.

There is a lot of variation in thickness and types of the plastics eg. the flaps that fold up to hide the fists is really thin and the rubbery black plastic used for the fists. I am finding clearance issues between the wing flaps and the back flap in robot mode and I feel like Takara would have come up with a better solution for the loose shoulders. Scoria's chrome blaster looks and feels like something I picked up for $2.00 in chinatown for my son. These are all minor and he is still a great figure none the less but just not quite Takara. I am much happier with Quakewave and in no real hurry to scrape up what I can for the other FT dinos.

Agree that he is close but not quite there. The X-men analogy made me laugh as I was ruined when Jim was replaced by Kubert. Kubert is a fantastic artist as well but I had to revisit him many years later to really appreciate that.

 

Tried something different than the last frame. Not sure if I should swap out the cartoon for just a regular faction symbol.

 

Looks great! Love the original cartoon art prints. I think Furyan posted a whole bunch of prints from his collection previously - damn amazing stuff!

 

I hear you! But I think it might've been Art Thibert who filled in before Kubert came onboard. Thibert was an inker and then given full art duties. He could do all the superficial surface level stuff Jim Lee did - the same "style" of lines, all the crosshatched uplighting, the intense grit-teethed faces, bloated muscles, and long legged figures, but it was clumsy and clunky compared to what Lee did. This is how I feel about 3P v. TT, even the best 3Ps. MP Bumblebee vs Bii, MP Ultra Magnus vs. Citizen Stack, MP Soundwave vs. Acousticwave, and MP Grimlock vs that new large 3P MP Grimlock all highlight the difference between 3P and the real deal. I've no doubt it'd be the same with a real MP Megatron 2.0 and Shockwave. Anyways...

Anyone seen any customs of MP Bumblebee that paint him canary yellow? Or paint MP Ultra Magnus to make him comic book accurate with red thighs, white hips, and light blue? Or a more cartoon accurate deco for MP Wheeljack? Just curious.

 

Scoria definitely holds his own against official MPs...

Man, I do wish I could fit him into my budget, even at that price, since he is one hell of a sweet looking Transformer, but as such he has no place in my collection and there are far too many other TF's I want to get that take priority. I guess I will have to enjoy him vicariously through those who are able to get him.

I've seen very few customs of either MP-21 or MP-22 actually. I suppose we see so many more Lambo/Datsun customs because people are buying the KOs to make them. I'm guessing we'll see a bunch of MP-21 customs come out after MP-21G ships. He's was basically at KO prices.

 

Order Stop, and the price is higher now...

Didn't get this one or Exhaust, as they just don't have much of a place in the collection. Soundblaster doesn't either, except to show off the alt mode of that mold...

If HLJ gets any more Star Saber upon release, I may bite.. but right now I'm tied up in pre-orders for everything Fans Toys and Apollyon...should be a great year for MP figures, though...

 

What other discussions can I start to get more of this?  cough...Quakewave....cough
