I've been bored, so I decided to make a new scale chart combining the good guys/heroes of various fictional stories. I did this to give a sense of comparison of the protagonists of other fictions and those of Transformers. *Gurren Lagann is "between 10 and 15 meters", which I averaged. I do not claim ownership of the images used in this chart; to my knowledge all are official artwork. The Transformer visuals are taken from G1 scale charts released by Hasbro. I didn't work with him on this, but I'd like to thank tekering for painstakingly upsizing the original G1 art and redrawing them in high quality. You can find his work here, so show him some love- http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...ion/944568-definitive-sunbow-scale-chart.html If you enjoyed this project of mine, you might also enjoy the following- http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...nding-shoulders-giants-part-i-large-file.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...ding-shoulders-giants-part-ii-large-file.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...ng-shoulders-giants-part-iii-large-files.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...many-sizes-optimus-prime-i-ii-large-file.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...on/978322-many-sizes-megatron-large-file.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans.../979565-many-sizes-predacons-large-files.html
Speaking of large protagonists, me and my friend did some calculations for Metroplex, starting off of FOC Metroplex's scale. It's very clear that Optimus is tiny in Metroplex's hand but still very visible, so we guessed Optimus was half as tall as one of Metroplex's finger segments. We then compared my friend's height (70") and the length of his finger segments (0.5"), so that's roughly 140 times smaller than he is. So if Optimus Prime (28') is 140x smaller than Metroplex, that would place Metroplex at 3920' or 1195 meters. This still makes a bipedal Metroplex smaller than your average Star Destroyer from Star Wars (with the average being quite low on their own size spectrum). This would hardly make Metroplex the size of a fully Transformer-scaled city, but it would make him a notable structure, like how he is in IDW. More like a bastion or citadel. Now, since Metroplex is roughly the same size as Trypticon, who transforms into the Nemesis, we can say Trypticon's considerable bulk (whose still 1200 meters tall) goes more into his length when he converts into ship mode, especially if we go off his Prime iteration. With these numbers and the dimensions of a typical Star Destroyer, we found an average for how many crew members (gunners, soldiers and crew) Metroplex could have, and therefore Trypticon. It's roughly 2200 people, which totally jives with the idea that both Optimus and Megatron only took a "few" Transformers with them in their exodus from Cybertron.
idk how accurate this is. considering mark hamill is 5'9, according to google. and i think rodimus was a little taller then that in the cartoon. but still pretty cool to see.
... That's Luke Skywalker's canon height, not his actor's height. Rodimus' height is taken from official scale charts linked to in the same post.
Now add the rest of the Gurren Lagann vehicles and aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahah I approve of the inclusion of Gamera, however.
Hm, the humans in Transformers sure were big. I mean, Daniel is a kid and he's about the same size as Captain Kirk
So Primal is only slightly taller than a Spartan, huh. But you also have to remember that MC wasn't the tallest Spartan.
According to the Transmetals game, Optimus Primal's Transmetal body is 300 cm / 3 meters or 9'10". His Japanese height is listed as 3.2 m or 10'6". http://www.oocities.org/superjinrai/bwstats.html Actually it's the size the creator's came to once they decided to do the math themselve's using the car-head as its basis. Megas-XLR's head is a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.
Makes me want to see a scale chart of the Gurren Lagann cast and the Lost Light crew. Don't know why.
Good lord! Voltron is titanic! I don't buy that the Iron Giant is bigger than Skyfire. Optimus seems a little smal and these scales seem more in line with animation models than common sense. Unless you assume all Sunbow Cybertronians have inherent mass shifting abilities. (Which seems like the only logical excuse) but then that renders any scale chart moot.
The scale charts are as canon a reference for G1 scale as we'll ever get. And like it or not mass shifting is a thing and always has been. It doesn't mean that we can't get a baseline of their usual height.
